AmericanWxFreak
Been stuck on the tarmac at BWI for an hour. I fail to believe there’s no way to exit to the south around that storm. This is silly. .

CAPE
Sitting at 0.95" here. With the extreme drought and given the near ideal setup for heavy rain, anything less than another half to one inch would be disappointing.
jewell2188
Seems like most of the area will be high dry this evening. Would suspect most of us will see the FW dropped.

CAPE
Looks like all the action east of the bay and now just to the west is being triggered by a westward moving boundary from the Ocean/ DE bay.

SnowenOutThere
1 minute ago, Terpeast said: Pouring! 1.4” in 30 min I think a fun bit of micro climatology played a part in that storm complex. Looking back at radar shows the storm popped up right over Dulles airport around 9pm. In college I learned that the delayed heat release of pavement peaks ~2 hours after the inversion layer sets. Definitely think that the local heat island of Dulles helped make a convective current that finally broke into our high CAPE environment. Now we get to watch the storm spread out through boundaries. Really goes to show how human made heat islands impact the whole area around them.
