donsutherland1
Tomorrow will be fair and warm. A storm will bring rain and possible thunderstorms to the region during Tuesday and Wednesday. The potential exists for a general 1.00"-3.00" rainfall with some locally higher amounts. Following the storm, Thursday and Friday will see a continuation of below normal readings. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was +3.6°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was +2.1°C for the week centered around July 15. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged +3.20°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged +1.82°C. The ongoing strong El Niño will continue to strengthen through the summer. The SOI was -31.64 today. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was +1.391 today. Based on sensitivity analysis applied to the latest guidance, there is an implied near 92% probability that New York City will have a cooler than normal July (1991-2020 normal). July will likely finish with a mean temperature near 76.3° (1.2° below normal). Supplemental Information: The projected mean would be 0.2° below the 1981-2010 normal monthly value.

This year has had wild temperature swings (since March). The first half of June was warm. The second half not so much. The first half of July was warm. The second half of July is going to be cold. It's an interesting coincidence. There's really no close comparison. I also doubt that the coming winter will be a close comparison.

FPizz
No nyc temp crying the past few days when they were the same or on the higher end of the area. I guess there is only an issue "certain" cherry picked days.

Maybe someone was in there pruning :-) If it could only stay like that for the other 125 days in the warm months rather than veering 2-5 (7) lower. I guess there is only an issue "certain" cherry picked days. Been saying this for years. There is an agenda here. Easy to see why Central Park would be cooler than the concrete hell holes that LGA and EWR are. Now the concrete hellhole airports may be more representative of NYC climate as a whole, but that is another discussion. That is vastly different then the pushed conspiracy theory that CPK temp readings are wrong
