Central PA Summer 2026 Discussion/Obs Thread

Fox 29 in Philly posted the below graphic for Philadelphia at the PHL Airport regarding "heat wave" days. I have also posted the same analysis for Chester County since 2020. Of note 10 of the Chester County stations have had the same or less than the 7 heat waves at PHL this year over the entire 2020's!

Sometimes the hardest part of reading about past disasters is having enough imagination to truly grasp the power of nature. if you ever were curious about the Johnstown flood than go watch the video coming out today about Glacial damn flood in Nepal and China. Especially the one at the border with giant building that gets engulfed.

It’s tragic and hard to watch. 
 

Unlike Johnstown though a bunch of rich pricks didn’t essentially cause it.

Just waiting to see how much rain we get today.

Low of 68 with .01" of rain.  Curious to see how things set up today.

We had a brief shower this morning, but showers will become more widespread later this afternoon and into the night with the ChescoWx model predicting 0.44" of rain by midnight tonight. We start to clear up tomorrow and start a steady warming trend with our peak warm days looking to be next Monday and Tuesday. However, any 90+ days look unlikely especially for the ridge locations. I suspect we have already seen our last "heat wave" across the county.
