I would have rather hit the cold phases of the MJO now since its still early and delay the warmth to April (obviously the temps would be higher then).

Now we are going to have some warmth in March at the expense of April.

Cold night froze the pack solid. Crunchy feel to it underfoot.

Tomorrow’s warm up will put a dent, but we are weeks away from having usable fields in my opinion.

Squish squish squish for a long time-wet ground will take awhile to dry out unless we have a mega torch with no rain/snow

Sundays wave ruined it

Yeah it's obvious now that Monday is going to be suppressed to the south and shredded. Our hope to get a little accumulating snow is Tuesday, but of course the problem Tuesday is the cold air is moving out. So that looks like a mix storm with snow changing to rain. We need the Tuesday wave to come in early in the morning like last night's Euro showed. If that happens we can get a couple inches of snow before it changes to rain.

I’m home now so it’s guaranteed to miss.

There’s still a lot of snow here but it’s definitely been melting fast in my area as well. The piles of course will be around for weeks or longer and they already look black/gross. I’m all for whatever warmup is on the way if it won’t snow.

I only have like 3" left on my deck from the 12" or so we got Monday. 45 today and 55 tomorrow should take care of the rest, but grass and piles will take a couple more days after that. By next week it will all be gone but agree the fields will be disgusting for a while.

Looks like our snow chances our dwindling for begging of March next week! :( Not sure if that’s it for the season but after the 50+ temp this Saturday people will be wanting nothing more than winter to be over

Next week doesnt look good unless you live in New England. We had to hope for the waves to stay intact but its not going to.

Yes. I like snow but I miss having a catch with my kids on the grass, shooting hoops out front. It’s time for the snow to melt and for people to be able to live again (yes I know some people ski on the weekends)

We should had a soccer tournament in LI canceled as the fields wont be playable by next weekend...

It appears that the Tuesday wave is going to stay intact, but the problem is the cold air is moving out. The question is how much snow, if any, will we get before it changes to rain. Today's GFS gives us a little front end snow.

I played pickup last week at the Baymen Fields in Sayville. We had enough space to have a nice 7v7 game with Pop-up nets. But, then again, we are sickos. Another week of this (and rain) and I’m guessing we’re playing next Saturday again.

Winter is not over yet IMO - enjoy the next couple of weeks of moderating temps over all - BUT the Polar Vortex split is going to cause winter to return and all that arctic air in Canada to return during the second half of March and maybe into April and I would bet there are at least a couple of snowstorms left in this winter in the Metro
