Seriously though. This winter will spoil many with such prolonged pack. Better get used to getting snow and then torching it 3 days later now. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Maybe. Previous few winters prior to last year were pretty damned warm. Those aren’t normal…like at all. This one wasn’t normal either but the interior averages between 55-80 days of snow cover per season so my expectations aren’t snow and then immediately torching it away. The pack longevity was definitely way more anomalous on the coast and esp south shore/Cape, so I’ll grant that.

My worry is Nino gets strong and then probably a snap back from these cold winters. I know the last several have been warmer than normal…but the trend line is up.  Just sucks.

Super Nino would obvioisly be warm but if it’s regular mod/strong, I’m not too concerned. We can rock in those. Those previous winters before last year were like Virginia climo. They aren’t normal.

More wiggle  room in the interior, but a little more tenuous out this way.
Well, any case, I’m just hoping we pull something out before this month ends. March is a long month to have the culmination of an inch of snow to show for it.

Forget it ... I've struggled almost in vein to articulate this sort of salience.

Crickets.

Doesn't get learned.

And it can't

Because of the whole dopa addict thing?  blocks those neuro-pathways.  I'm certain of it.

It's no different than going into a Methadone clinic and instructing patients to not crave or scheme how to get heroin.   The drug rewires the brain such that it no longer has any neurological pathways capable of learning how to stop - and that blocks any kind of expectation that doesn't include getting high.

LOL   ... somethin like that

Ya, March is long, so one more good event would be perfect. Go out with a bang.  And Let’s get some warm days next week before we go back the other way.

More psychological nonsense…hilarious. From a poster who is here as much as anybody.

Same people who complained about the last several winters are the ones who can't wait for this winter to end.

As I have previously mentioned there aren't all that many winter lovers here. The majority only tolerate winter because of the increased chances for snow..they are snow lovers not winter lovers..

Gotta think one of those systems between 3/13-3/18+ track favorably for SNE..a lot of storms are coming through the pipeline. CNE/NNE look best obviously, but I think we can score one in SNE.

Hopefully Euro skynet has the right idea for the 16th.

I don’t think that’s true at all. There might be some who don’t like bitter cold with nothing to show for it, but most enjoy winter as it should be.

The teleconnection phase state NAO, PNA are completely different than this time last year.

I know that’s with the caveat that the teles have less influence on the Synoptics this time of year but it’s an influence and a warm one for a change…

Away from the immediate coast I still think we can see a really nice March and April relative to climo and especially relative to recent years past.

This...I declared the season over in mid February  last season, as I had always expected a mild March...not this time.

Your last line actually makes sense (this is not the mlb forum :P). It would be interesting to see who are just snow lovers, who are winter lovers, and who are both. Because there absolutely are three groups. In the Lakes subforum I know who's who but dont call em out. Im all 3.

It can snow to the end of April but thats not winter. I generally think of winter as mid november to mid March. Even though march averages more snow than November, November absolutely seems like the more wintry month here lately.
