that's funny we're musing over that..  I was just texting with some Met buddies a little while ago how this year really seemed to us to be a "snowy year"

Granted, we're not dyed in the cloth snow zealots, but in principle, we just see this year as having had snow on the ground almost always.  Two huge storms.. and lost track of all these tweener event/constant reminders.

I like the numbers method frankly.  If it is 100% of the seasonal norm, that is an A+

tough shit otherwise.

Below normal to date should be C or lower?

OH I get it... just pointing out the silliness of it.

Truth be told, all that grading BS is is how well did one's dopa get its hits.

Who cares ultimately if one gets their rocks off.   Everyone has a different number for weather boner inches anyway.

Yeah I grade winter differently from others anyway. There was too much sustained low to mid grade cold for my liking and too many nickle and dimers. In other words, too much effort into cleaning up snow and driving in shat conditions for the amount we’ve received. Missing the biggies doesn’t help either.

The frustration:enjoyment ratio was too high.

In terms of personal druthers?  agreed -

I can objectively admit to this winters cold and snow.

But personally - I know I'm probably in the minority - I can honestly say I did not like it.  I did not like the deliveries.  I did not like the fact that an extraordinary, historical bomb bumped SE in the magic moments just enough that a comparatively select few got the big goods while we pretended it was historic out side the smaller geographical area.   I did not like the fact that there was snow on the ground deep enough that we suspended our disk golf season.  I did not like the cold... we don't need that much cold to get that much snow...and we prooobably could argue the cold is why some of these storms shirked for bigger taxes, too...

Didn't like the winter.  Prefer that when those 70+ers arrive ( assuming they do) next week, by then the modeling/indicators would have collapses in favor of the inevitable seasonal change, and we would in fact not ever see this white shit on the ground until after Halloween.

Still thinking it delivers?

Depends on how you define “delivers”…I’m pretty confident will see some accumulating snow out of that pattern but it could be pennies and nickels or a few hours of a front-ender.

If we can get a western ridge to spike, then we’ll have a really good shot at another larger event…but way too far out at this point.

I agree with a lot of this.. mostly the missed chances and the blizzard left me sour missing out on historic snow bc of the SE bump ..

We bump and dump

Kind of F’ed us here…good storm with the wind and blizzard conditions and all…but 13-14” is a let down compared to what others had…literally 48-50% of what you/they(SE Mass) had. That does leave a sting behind. Still a great winter though for me…but that keeps it from A+ for me.  Unless we Get a good one in March… that could certainly redeem somewhat..but that’s a big IF as of now.

For me it's 20% data and 80% subjective. :D   I don't mind the cold as much as do normal people, I like a sustained decent pack and dislike winter rain.  Snowfall to date is within a fraction of an inch of the 27-year average YTD.  It's been very dry (DJF 6.84", only 48% of avg and our lowest by 1.80") but the freaky ratios of Jan 25-27 turned 0.77" LE into nearly 20".  The Feb blizzard, 0.2" - can't in them all.

All this adds up to slightly above average, so far.  March is generally either wonderful or woeful - not many in the middle.
