Anyone else got some argumentative opinions to voice? I'm down to start and say that this forum is way nicer in the spring and summer.

Sorry!  I'm thinking I'll get more thunderstorms in southern MD :P

That’s because those seasons are superior lol. When it doesn’t snow, winter is short, cold days.

We are gaining almost 20 minutes of daylight a week! Super exciting to see it still light out after 6pm. While I love the low sun angle within the 10 or 15 days of the solstice for the unique lighting beyond then I like it to be light outside.

@wxmeddler @Eskimo Joe hey friends, was checking Mesonet snow depth this AM and saw that Harney jumped from 5” to 14” this morning?

I've noticed that if there is direct sunshine on the sensor that it occasionally puts down an elevated odd value. I think it has to do with thermal expansion of the ultrasonic plate. Because it returns to normal at night or when cloudy. The next data-logger update I'm gonna try a blended temperature compensation to try and see if that can alleviate the issue.

Edit: Snow Depth is notoriously hard to do remotely. I'd rather use RADAR or LiDaR but they are really expensive.

Yeah looks like it did it yesterday too. Also saw it on the Parkton site, though only went from 6 to 8. Last night I saw the Balt city one was showing 0 but back to having snow depth today

I don’t understand the technical things but glad it seems like it could be an easy fix

Now that you said that, it won't be. Thanks.

Sorry this happened. Rule of thumb for job offers is no legitimate company will offer a job without a face-to-face or at least a video interview. Be careful of links to document sites, etc. Always check emails, those usually give scammers away. They pray on people who are too busy to check. Scam emails I get are emails that usually end with gmail.com or some domain other than the company referred to in the email. Instant trashcan for me.

I'm super critical of most things. I'm getting older, so I may not be as sharp as I used to be. And with AI, catching scams are getting a lot tougher. I'm starting to fall for the AI slop online. Imagine how scammers can use AI in these situations. I imagine in a few years you will be talking to someone in a video conference and they are AI!

Stay vigilant. Hope your kid gets a great job.

Yeah the “interview” process was strange. But I have seen this done before and is usually used to select out serious candidates. But the move from this process directly to a job offer without a face to face was one of the red flags that went up. You are correct though with AI this is just going to get tougher and tougher.

Scary stuff @Mrs.J! Our daughter is a similar age so I’ll keep an eye out!

Glad I could help so she knows what is going on out there. It honestly needs to be talked about more. But so many who experience it are embarrassed for falling for it. So they don’t.

This is awful but thank you for sharing. Glad y’all’s alarm bells were going off before any sensitive information was sent! Hope it doesn’t break her confidence, something will come along for her!

She is all good. Preparing for her face to face interview for an internship on Monday. :)

Damn, this is bad.  Just read this after being involved in As The Board Turns.    I'm just glad you and Mr. J caught this shit in time before she sent over her data!  Tell her to keep her chin up and be careful and run things through yall.

So are we. It could have gone really south really quick. The fact that she has not heard anything from the person after Tuesday night tells me they knew she caught on and cut her loose as it was a loss of time for them. Unfortunately probably moved onto the next person.

My wife runs her own business and got a fairly large work/job client offer. Went all the way through the on-boarding process, they even sent 20% down but the check bounced and their "english is my second language so apologies if my emails come off weird" started to fall apart. Was just a big scam. Reported to the police and state fraud center. It's scary how good these scammers are getting with help from AI and such. Really frustrating. I'm sorry that happened to her.

Scary that it is even happening to businesses as well. Did not know there is a state fraud center. This might be worth sending to them.

Thanks all. One good thing is we had told her to not say anything to family as we thought it would be a surprise when she graduates. But because of this I have no one to open up to and it was really getting to me. I know I do not post much on this thread. It honestly moves to quick for me and I like to give every post a good read. But it was the only place that I felt comfortable with posting to.

Your idiocy is pathetic. How long have you done this hobby?  A long ass time. And you take one run on the worst LR model and assume it’s the gospel?  You come in constantly to shit on every pattern that doesn’t give you snow. That’s not analysis, that’s just being a whiney bitch fist.

Do you look at wavelength patterns? Teleconnections? Run to run consistency? Model back up?  None of your posts have evidence to support your dumb ass statements. At least Ji back his shit up.

And oooooo you aren’t afraid of Randy. He ain’t gonna ban you for your dumbassery. That’s you wanting to play victim. More bitch fist mentality.

Go sew a fuck flap on your next Hessian cosplay costume

"fuck him up Socrates!!"

Yes it is. And when you think you know all the ways out there they just keep reinventing themselves. Having been an art student myself I would have been over the moon with a commission so know what your acquaintances daughter went through. What we want now is the company that was directly spoofed to respond back to us. Because it was not until the end that the pieces fell into place. Their logo was used, contact name was used in the initial contact. Mr. J is giving them today to respond then he will try to call them. He wants to alert them that their name is being used in this manner. Not sure if they will care or not but if it was my company I would want to know.

I'm so sorry this happened to her... just hope she doesn't get too discouraged and keeps at it.  I am very sad for the market waiting many of our current students as they take their first steps.  There are so many factors creating negative stress on the labor market right now...some self inflicted and some related to changes and innovation that we are going to have to face and deal with eventually.  But its rough...but if she keeps at it eventually something will go her way.

@stormtracker Wait are w-2s, 1099s, etc going to be required to confirm yearly income to make post in threads now?

Got around to creating these:

Requirements for Main Long Range Threads:

  • Submit a copy of last two pay stubs verifying north of 150,000/year salary
  • Submit a copy of your junk science degree from your Shit-ass college
  • Deed or lease from parent's basement.  Immediate family and friends who'd qualify for "your mom" jokes are acceptable.
  • Attach PM calling someone a coward, yella belly or use of such words as forthwith or toot suite.
  • Pictures of all the girls/guys you've bagged without even trying man.

Final requirement is in person interview where you should be able to recite this from memory to the tune of Yankee Doodle Dandy from Revolutionary war hero Franklin D'Angelo Roosevelt:

Yankee Doodle Went to Town, Sending Angry Pee-eems

Stuck a feather in his cap and thought that we won't see-emm.

Yankee doodle keep it up,  Yankee Doodle Dandy

Mind the music and the step, and watch that coward Randy

<Bridge>

Yankee Doodle drove to town, at Capecod he was pissed

Earning him a top notch spot on many ignore listsss

Yankee Doodle.,

Nevermind, ran out of steam here.

Or first verse of WAP will do.

Yes, this is ideal actually.  Wonder how much the met in this pic is paying his mom for rent.   Probably has a tray of Tostinos and Mt Down on that desk.

He gets free rent, just has to give shitty weather forecasts to her as payment. I am pretty sure that’s DT.
