OK give me the money Fozz.  Cause 24 hours ago that flight was $260.  I ain’t paying more than that AND my rental car is now on, so that’s 4 days of no use AND it’s an expensive one.  Maybe I’ll just drive it up to Mammoth Mountain Monday where I’ll see more snow than ALL of you.

Bro I’ve been to Kirkwood, Alta and Whistler a few years ago. They can easily get many feet of snow and the skiing is phenomenal especially with fresh powder.

It definitely sucks that you may be missing out on a memorable storm for RI.  They are rare, compared to other parts of New England.

That being said, you do have your two week travel period set during the middle of what is usually the best period climo-wise for good storms in RI.  Mid-January to Mid-February is when things tend to click the most for us in RI if you look at storm records.  I'm guessing your two week period of travel can't be adjusted, but you would have less of a chance missing out on our storms in SE NE if you moved that winter travel period a little.

Or crushed needles like Boxing Day. Give me 24 hours of heavy windless fluff over that any day!

So, living in the Northern part of the Pioneer Valley, I have a meteorological, masochistic, fascination with needles and shattered dendrites.  It's a phenomena that I get to watch with the big coastals. East to West moisture fetch.  We'll get some hours of decent snow growth and then I'll obsessively watch the arctic sand pour down, pausing with excitement when a certain wind gust bring good snow growth, for a minute or two.  Maniacally watching the baking powder fall while a mix of larger dendrites mixes in and teases.  The hills to my east and west tripling up on ratios.
