These large sprawling long duration events are generally more accurately modelled than the thread the needle faster moving ones. As of now, it's just nice to have something to track. Those are the types of winters you need to produce a lot of snow in such a short period of time in the 2nd half of January and February. You're not going to get that in a -PDO/-ENSO like this year.
