I think they use a model called the MBN. I do not have access though.

So NWS usues Grib2 files I believe and you can download an app to view that data. I just tried it on my iPad. Found an app and it has access to that NBM model data. May horse around with it more. Free for 10 days. It’s like $30 one time fee for lifetime access. LuckGrib is app.

I don't know. We dry out the DGZ very quickly so precipitation is going to shut off quickly. A reason why I think many could actually end as a bit of sleet or freezing drizzle. But this is also why I think 18z NAM QPF is out too lunch...still has QPF falling when we've essentially dried out the DGZ. If we're still snowing past that time its Arctic sand and won't accumulate

Arctic sand accumulates Paul…just not very well or efficiently.  I’m gonna go out on a limb and say it’s still snowing and accumulating well past 10 pm imo.

Still nervous about dry air. Would like to see hrrr a little more bullish.

You have solid high RH at 700 and 500 mb on the NAM/GFS thru 12z Sat.  Synoptic snow superimposed on OES?  I don't see an issue, esp. in Weymouth! B)  Seeding the OES from above, dancin' in the streets time for CoastalWx?  LOL.

And the 18z NAM shows actually shows an little higher QPF band pointed right at Weymouth, and 18z HRRR shows 5" right over Weymouth.  12z GFS had a broad slightly higher QPF area over ern MA.

Ha. I’m hoping models crap our that band near BGM to quick. That’s a strong push of WAA right through 700mb. It will hit a wall eventually but any eastward gains matters.

Haven't made a map in a while.  Also testing a web app I created using ChatGPT to build snowfall forecast maps in a web browser.

That's pretty bullish in eastern area.....(3-5 in Plymouth County).  I'd be surprised if the Southcoast gets more than 2".  In any case, I'll let the wife know she needs to head down there with a shovel.  :)

They used to be far more relevant.  The last 20 years they always seem to be behind the 8 ball. EDIT: Also, we've had the weenie emoji forever,  isn't it time for something else... maybe a clam?

Agree with you about NWS. They used to be so good. I always have their forecasts more weight. These point and clicks are for the birds.
