You can tell the warmth aloft is getting closer to ground as there’s way less sleet now and the accretion is mostly stopped. The previous glaze is still on bushes and other surfaces but the rain is mostly just running off it now. 
 

Short term guidance has been getting better and better for later this evening. Hoping to finish with a few hours of steady snow. 

Is that flip going to happen down this way? Or too little too late?

Got down to 10 last night and was up to 18 when flakes began about 7:15.   Steady small flakes and 2.0" at 2:15 and my walk to the mailbox had a feel of a somewhat low ratio.  In 7 hours, the temp has risen all the way to 20.  Noted that GYX has cut back the totals a bit.

starting to come down heavier again and flake size has improved somewhat. but it has that look of a "wetter" snow

Not sure what they have in the forecast at this poitn, but the AFD had them upping them along the coast.

 

Meanwhile, the HRRR shows the snow hole filling in within the hour and then progressively get better from there with several hours of good qpf coming in.  Fingers crossed.

The hole is expanding northward....looks to be approached Jeff's hood.  Might be closing in from the south.....but it's painfuilly slow.

It has let up quite a bit at the moment, But we have 4" so far
