That line they’re talking about must be the one from Long Branch to Toms River. It doesn’t look as bad as what’s passed but that has to be it.

The line fell apart and was nothing more than a drizzle here in Central Union county, NJ.  Winds are relatively light, though were stronger around 6:45 AM.

Winds deft mixed down yet again

Worst is over. Lost a few holiday decorations otherwise this area handles 60 mph winds with no problems

As is very often the case with these events, I think the stronger and longer duration winds will be on the backside (CAA) of the storm. Maybe isolated gusts will be higher with any line moving through now, but areawide we should perform better with the cold air advection as it can mix down winds very efficiently.

I don’t think so for Long Island. Gusts 60-70 which have already been recorded won’t be beat out here

underwhelming so far but an inversion was mentioned in the AFD

I think they were right about that; you can see the squall line damping out as it reaches the coast.

On the other hand it has been very windy here.  Peak gust from my poorly sited backyard station at 2 meters is 22mph, which breaks the old record by over 2mph...this goes back a little over a year.  Rules of thumb don't really work for that kind of inaccuracy, but I'm thinking we've gusted over 50.  It is roaring out there.

Somehow, we still have power which is a nice surprise.  This section of Smithtown is basically a 3rd world country.  Wooded with an above ground grid.

Lucky you.  Someone farts here and we lose power.  Usually.  So far so good today.

I also live in a wooded area with above ground lines. It’ll happen at some point

Alot of woods here with above ground lines but our town has been aggressive in recent years in removing trees near the lines-has made a difference.

A few years ago after a nasty T-storm knocked trees down my town trimmed most of the trees around any power line so it’s been better since then, but it’s a higher end wind event here for sure. Probably some 55+ gusts.
