dendrite
Yeah…those would be some huge birds when you think of the scale there. And that’s up at outflow level.

Hardly any here either, last year the deck was covered with them, we'd clear them and a few days later the deck was covered again. the neighbors' goats ate well last fall. WinterWolf
I realize that image is fake, but Isn’t the air descending in the eye? So what would trap birds…couldn’t they just fly down towards the surface?
Typhoon Tip
2 hours ago, SouthCoastMA said: like the birds needing to be the size of skycrapers (or much bigger) with that scale, yeah I've heard of geese up near 28 K feet but I think that's about the limit ( also..). I mean, those are not only idiot-hoaxer sized like you said, but they'd also be flying at an altitude where there's almost no air - certainly not enough to float bird when birds don't travel at the 600 mph it would require to generate lift under their wings. But who knows what the real source of that is... it could have been intended for art, and then some other ass-clown decided to use it for whatever. At the end of this, nothing that "originates" in social media can be trusted, ever.

powderfreak
It’s kind of crazy this time of year with the low sun angle that the eastern slope ski trails can hold onto frost all day long. 4:15pm and still frosty. 4

Yup, as I said earlier, I will finally get a new outdoor thermometer at my new apartment here next month, but I know when there's thermal inversion, as has been the case of late, we at the elevation of the river are always a few degrees colder than the local NWS station, KEEN. The past few mornings have been around 25F in Keene, about 200 feet ASL. We are at about 300 feet ASL, so been probably more like 22F. Suffice to say, it has been chilly!
