However, so many of these on air weather personalities do not have the chops for any sort of long-form extended programming. Once they talk for more than 3 minutes, it's clear how lightweight many of them are. Last night heard a guy refer to Fire Island as Long Beach Island, then said out loud 'I'm pretending I know this area but I'm actually new here' or something to that effect. I respect the guy for at least having a conscience, but c'mon. Then the other lady said something like "Well, there is a Long Beach, just further west, so you were close!" Then I heard another one call Fenway Park "Fenway Stadium" and said football will be tough this weekend because it will be difficult to throw "long range" passes.
