Yup, 98 here for me as well, HI reached 120.  This will wind up being a 3 day heatwave here unless things change Thursday.

Early climate report for NYC indicates

96 max ties daily record set in 1888 _ second highest value on 23rd was 94F in 1966.

80 min sets new record for date (77 1888) and is only second 80+ min in June (81 June 26, 1952).

There have been a number of 79F mins including non-record June 26, 2003, and daily records for 10th 1984, 21st 2012; 24th 1909; and 30th, 1945, 1959.

Chris, did Allentown make it to 100 today? I see they're 97 right now, the same temperature as Newark. And Philly is at 99.

They beat the record that was just set last year.

88 degrees now. The worst is over. The mini splits have made the house a refrigerator now since the temp has dropped down from the earlier upper 90s.

Tomorrow should be peak misery for me and pretend to enjoy the heat but spend no time in it for others.

Shorter term guidance showing more of a sea breeze tomorrow south of the Belt and Southern State Parkways .So it’s possible that JFK only makes it to 98-99° with 102° to 104° just north near Corona, Queens. Someone in the area could get very close to 105° where the best compressional warming occurs.

Down to 85.

Hopefully I can get into the 70s and temps stay there instead of going back up or staying in the 80s overnight.

zero chance you get below 80 tonight.    79 if you are really lucky.   Even here last night we only got down to 76

Yea my low was 77 last night and only just briefly.

If there's any combination of WEST and SOUTH windwise (except SSW) I usually torch at night during heatwaves because the wind blows over the massive urban heat island just to my west.

That's why I'm kind of hoping that if winds are south maybe I can squeeze into the upper 70s at least.

Somerville/Hillsborough area always seems to be a hot spot. Any scientific reason? I'm in Branchburg so I can verify it's always right up there in the area for highest temps

SMQ and Hillsborough both are located in a lower elevation pretty far removed from any potential marine influence so probably both factors are the likely reason why they are higher than many other stations.

Interestingly SMQ actually in Bedminster in a very rural area so UHI wouldn’t be much of a factor.
