84F at Duluth. I think the bigger shocker is the record high for today was an insane 92F (see below). Many places way further south have never recorded such a high temperature this early in the year. The earliest 92F reading at Dayton, Ohio occurred on May 9, 1896. Since 1962, the earliest 92F reading was on May 28, 2012.

Sometimes you can get these very warm temps in northern areas this time of year easier than in the summer because of the still limited foliage.

A RECORD RAINFALL OF 1.16 INCHES WAS SET AT DAYTON OH YESTERDAY,

INCHES SET IN 1971.

Only in the middle of the 1st week of May, but already have 3" of rain for the month already. No way May's going to be drier than normal by the time the month is over. Keep the stretch of wetter-than-normal months coming over the next several months, especially with some of the near-biblical rains, and we can forget having a summer this year.

FYI. For those not trolling, this is a time to really not pay attention to the GFS. Skill scores are some of the lowest I’ve ever seen for anything mid to long range

Does this bleed over into other NCEP models as well? NAM, CFS, RAP? If so, going to make forecasting the rest of chase season a b****.

Obviously it's going to be modified for this subforum, but the warmer temps are definitely on track for next week as the Omega Block finally breaks down (which is typically how temps respond with the strong subsidence in its wake).

In fact, a record high of 101*F (you read that right, not a typo) is forecasted here on Wednesday, with 90s expected all next week starting Tuesday.

That said, in the mean time, looking at a mostly cloudy weekend on the western fringe of the ULL with highs in the 70s.

Mid 80's here around TH yesterday. As soon as the wind turned from the S to the W, temps jumped. S winds bring in some Lake air, keeping temps a little cooler, but a W wind comes from land, and downslopes, causing temps to rise quickly. Today, E winds will keep temps around avg in the mid 50's. Whiplash wx.

Today is the last windows open day for awhile. The AC will likely be turned on for the first time this year during this upcoming hot stretch.

Tomorrows record high is 88 which is also the forecast high. My gut says we hit 90 everyday Sun-Wed

Had the heat on off and on so far in May. I do NOT want to go right to AC lol.

It seems hard not to have to use either heat or AC here in Spring(obviously heat more than AC). September and to a lesser extent October seems to be the months where I can get away with using neither the most. Even the warm days have much longer nights by then which cools it off quicker. It’s always refreshing to be able to have windows open all day during the summer but I hate when the house gets above 75 so that’s a problem for a lot of summer days. lol
