Fun little storm, but it’s time to look to warmth and dews. The GFS looks nicer midweek now like the euro. MDW looks tainted despite the daily improvement, but it’s all up from there.

Tomatoes in ground next week, cucumbers, peppers etc :D

Dreading putting the dock into the lake this weekend. Looking like upper 40's water temperature. Painful.

Been a LONG time since the Boston Metro has gotten a blocked low, conveyer belt QPF bomb. Much different storm at the synoptic scale, but that radar across EMass looks like the March 2013 firehose. Huge returns pivoting in off the Bay, RI and South Coast slotting

Kind of reminded me of April 1, 1997, too.

Make America Healthy Again. Another dumb idea forwarded by our stupid admin. We should all get melanoma instead.

Sunscreens in general are pretty bad. The better ones no one wants to use because you literally cover yourself in paste. But yeah, getting scorched for hours isn’t good either. Covering up or knowing when to get shade is best, but you can’t always do that…just gotta do what works best for you.

There are some that have questionable ingredients in them. But you can shop around and get some that might be more pasty on you...but can still use them and rub them in. Usually those are more organic...or kid friendly.

The bottom line is that the sun has so much more risk than any sunscreen. I love the sun, but I put on block when I need to.

We evolved with the sun. We need the sun. We need to make that vitamin D. But it’s just a matter of not overdoing it. Killing skin cells isn’t good. I would wear it if I had to be in the sun for awhile…beach, game, etc.

I used to laugh at those tanning beds that claimed you could get a tan without a burn. They’re essentially just UVA. The wavelengths are longer and go deeper into your skin versus UVB. The UVB does faster damage to the surface skin, but your body quickly gets the signal and tells you to gtfo of the sun. The UVA is different and leads to a lot of those deeper melanoma cases. That’s why truck drivers get skin cancer on their left side often…the side window glass blocks UVB but not UVA.

I was just wondering which chemical in it were unhealthy and why....if you know offhand, great...otherwise I am sure I can look it up.

I have a beach tent I use when I go to the beach and still get enough sun even sitting underneath it.
