Yeah CT has been getting hammered this year. There have been some great storms.on the western end that did significant damage.

This has been the 7th wettest summer through August 4th at Tweed New Haven just to my SW. Nearly 10.00” here since June 1st. This is even before we start seeing  the heavy rainfall from Debby.

75  73 warm and humid.  Driest and hottest day through Wed (8/14),   Mid 90s, some warmer spots may tough upper 90s (97).  Warm and humid, but clouds and showers return/begin tomorrow in what will be one of the wettest stretches in August since 2011.  As  tropical flow along a hung up boundary and then Debby;s remnants push >5 inch totals and as much as 9-10 inches in spots.  Overall humid and rainy through Sat (8/10).   Beyond Debby near normal and heat capped out west.  Beyond mid month to the final 1/3 of the  month western heat expanding north.     Could be one of the wettest August.

Very rare to see a map like that.  If that comes close to verifying there's going to be billions in losses from flooding.

Debby would almost certainly be retired if that happens.

Posted yesterday in this thread that worst case is a PRE followed by Debby passing near or just to the east.  Moist tropical air would get lifted over frontal boundary into "cooler drier" air mass.

Will be interesting to see how remnants interact with upper trof and frontal boundary that will be floundering arcoss our area.  My opinion,  spatial area of excessive rainfall to be determined but confidence increasing locations in this forum see 5-7"+ totals.  Hopefully broken up over several days.  Just for reference Ida rains came in a 3-5 hour period.  Sort term intense rainfall is by far worse than something spread out over a few days. Regardless, that does little to help river flooding but it does lessen the intense flash flooding that was associated with Ida.  Not suggesting this is Ida type event.   We'll see how this plays out.

We are/were heading to the finger lakes Wednesday - Sunday.  I'm in the process of communicating with the B & B owner to try to change the dates to Saturday - Tuesday of next week.
I'm hoping they are flexible and understanding.  Not only do I not want to vacation in the rain if I can help it, I also would need to keep an eye on our basement if this comes to fruition.

Anyone able to post the Top 5 wettest Augusts  months?

EWR, NYC, LGA, TTN, JFK, PHL?

For NYC 18 inches in 2011 was number 1 for August.

My wettest month was 21.53" in Aug 2011.. The 30 day period from 8/9-9/8, I received 25.02". There was a stalled out deluge of 9" on 8/14 followed by 8" two weeks later from Irene, followed by 5" from Lee during 9/7-9. Truly a remarkable period.

92 degrees here right now. It's a hot one today, but the humidity isn't terrible with the dew point at 67 here.

After having such a hot summer, it's going to feel strange later in the week with ENE winds and high temps only in the mid 70s.
