Visibility at Indy was down to 1.25 miles in the 5 min observations. I've never seen in my life wildfire smoke like this in Indiana.

I like how the vis numbers go red when 3 miles or less. And the numbers have been red almost all day since sun-up.

Forgot to mention the 90's this past weekend, on Saturday June 24th. Topped out at 93 at ORD, and 92 at MDW and RFD. RFD also added a 90 last Wednesday (June 21st) as well.

...2023 90°+ Day Tally...
6 - ARR
5 - ORD
5 - DPA
4 - MDW
4 - RFD
4 - LOT
2 - PWK
0 - UGN

Yep, 90 degree with some ozone and you better shout it from the rooftops. Smoke so thick its blocking the sun? Nah. Leave it to IL government to fuck up something so simple.

Since that's what the 2nd paragraph of their statement implies, and they apparently only see their role as alerting sensitive groups, I tend to agree. Behind the scenes, there's bureaucratic stuff with IDEM that we've had to sort out, but they've been very proactive in putting out AQAs, just like all the other state EPAs have been in this stretch, with the exception of the IL EPA.

Just to rehash this slightly… because I am buzzed and annoyed.

What threshold is the IEPA looking for? A large portion of Illinois had the worst air quality on the fucking planet today.

If this isn’t a slam dunk, I don’t know what is.

Shame about the miss south stank, upcoming looks hot just south

looking forward to more 80 degree days with partly cloudy skies. I'm all for being inside the "ring" if it's sunshine and 90 with nightly MCS. This thing sounds like incessant clouds and 88 with 75 dews and storms. I'll pass on that. I'll take the south miss.

Still need much more rain to significantly green things up here.
