March 9 Rain/Snow Event (Possibility of a few inches of wet snow for much of the subforum, most likely north and west of NYC)

Flipped from rain/snow to pure sleet to a heavy snow/sleet mix in the span of 5 minutes here in Plainview.

Everything is a white paste coat up here..still all snow. We def got more then a inch here even with the melting and compaction..

The changeover line looks to be stuck on the barrier islands. With this activity coming from the west and declining sun maybe we can accumulate some more.

This sleet before created a layer on the roads so the snow is sticking to the roads right away

No sleet but a mixture of dendrites and graupel here.

In the latest PNS, Central Park reported a trace of snow. Yet, the ground is actually whitened as per the camera at Columbus Circle. Were a proper measurement taken on a snow board, one would be dealing with a few tenths of an inch of snow, not a trace. Here's a very recent image from Columbus Circle:

2.2 in Morris county . Should have been an advisory here imo . Roads were pretty bad around 1 pm when I was out

It’s no mystery what’s going on here and it has been all season.
 

The NWS has dropped the ball again, as they have so many times in years past, regarding snowfall measurements at Central Park. Look at every event this season and the Park has under measured, or not measured at all, every event. When they had the Conservancy measure the last several years it was better although not perfect. I’m not sure what they’re doing this year but it’s time to start applying pressure again. It’s ridiculous that the largest city in the country can’t measure snowfall with any consistency. 

I don’t even want to get started on all of the historic storms they have under measured through the decades.

yeah near sunrise highway, nothing falling here for almost an hour...what was falling is still on the grass though and on rooftops
