While awaiting this coming storm, a really good tick-tock about how a lot of humans can cause a snowstorm to snowball into a crisis.

This was the epic emergency in Virginia and Washington in early January.  Not our forum, but ... it couldn't happen here, right?

How about a little mood music before the storm? Definitely for fans of heavier music or otherwise someone with open minded tastes:

Insomnium - Winter's Gate

A melodic death / progressive metal concept album about a group of Vikings trying to find a fabled island west of Ireland in a harsh winter.

It's frankly incredible, give it a shot.

Don’t forget the eggs! Why is it every time it snows everyone suddenly wants French toast?

Good morning Maureen and thank you. Ah, fresh made French Toast. Since I’ve grown to depend on my live in microwave care giver, I’d forgotten. I would make it for Sunday breakfast for my lost love. Vincenza, being a smart person, requested, on occasion, that it become a late day weekend meal. Delightful memory. Please stay safe and warm. I’m under orders from the peanut gallery not to shovel. It’s been 47 years since I wore a uniform and followed ‘snap to’ orders. Only Vincenza could, on occasion, get me back into military form. As always ….

My son got to work on that vehicle a few years ago in his shop...no free weenies though, just a few tchotchkes.

Good morning, Irish. I’m not sure who/where the idea came from to park it in front of specific/particular forum members residences. Stay well, and be safe, as always ….

The thing is, the potential was really big. Maybe never that big for me (I'm in Rockland), but when the potential is large, there is a feeling of needing to get the fruition of it. There are only so many chances for 18+.

I will give you an analogy. Let's say you play the Mega Millions and the jackpot is 200 million. You hit all 5 numbers, and now you are waiting on the 6th one where the number is anywhere from 1 to 25. You miss that one and wind up collecting 7k. You cannot say to that guy or gal, " what's wrong with you, 7k makes you sad"? Once 200 million was in play, yes, 7k makes one sad.

Now, apply that to these snowstorms. In a vacuum 6 inches is great, but, a lot depends on the potential and what that is/was.

That would be a fair analogy….if the vacuum wasnt a weather forum.

this is more like being on a gambling forum, Amongst people who havent hit a bet all season, and then having a push on the last leg of a 6 leg parlay turning your +3800 bet into a +700 bet.

All While other posters are saying none of the bets will hit, then claiming victory when 5 of the 6 hit but the 6th is a push to screw up the big win. And while others are ignoring the o/u trends and saying “its gonna hit no matter what”.

what a awful horrible month for snow in nyc it could have been the greatest ..so many chances and it just did not work out..who would have thought that southern coastal new jersey will have a better year in snow totals then nyc..

Isn’t that kinda why we like it, though? To see the unexpected?
