wolfie09 Posted January 19 Rgem not really a fan of this event, at least compared to the HRRR and 3k NAM but it does really like the Thursday event as it stands now..

CNY_WX Posted January 19 The snow squall that passed through here about 3:30 moving off to the east. Tonight is 3 weeks since the lake effect event dropped 13 inches here. We’ve been able to maintain a snow cover continuously since then which is pretty good for this winter.

Thinksnow18 Posted January 19 It appears this pattern is beginning to affect our posters. With no real winter in sight over the next 2 weeks and that takes us into February my guess is that the majority of us are starting to think this is over. I think many of us are accepting the fact that this winter is just ridiculous.

Buffalo Bumble Posted January 19 14 minutes ago, Luke_Mages said: Erie looks to becoming better organized. Yeah it does, and the radar in lower MI is juicy right now. I haven’t really looked at the forecast for Lake Erie lake effect but just based on what’s upstream I would guess the southern part of Erie County and points south will get another nice hit tonight. Will be some great skiing and shoeing down there for at least the next week. Winter is alive and well!!
Luke_Mages Posted January 19 Looks like immediate south towns should get in on the action for a bit here

We had close to a foot this morning. It had just shifted south when I got there this morning but blowing snow kept it interesting through the day.
wolfie09 Posted January 20 2 hours ago, swva said: 2” so far today. Hope this gets more organized soon. Looks rough right now. Yeah, according to the NWS the band *should"drop south after midnight.. Flow 280ish which will once again keep me on the fringe lol I think we need a 275 ish here.. Good luck.. A persistent cyclonic flow will circulate colder air across the region through tonight...with H85 temps falling to arnd -12c this evening to -15c by Wednesday morning. Additional support will come in later this evening as shortwave over western Great Lakes makes its way eastward. This will maintain significant lake snows east of the lakes where lake snow warnings remain in effect into Wednesday morning. The steering flow will veer from roughly 260 this evening to 280 after midnight, then to 300 on Wednesday when the region will be found in the H85 thermal trough. While this sub arctic airmass will tend to expand the lake snows over the region (largely due to spray off Lake Ontario)...a crashing cap will leads to MUCH less efficient snow-making southeast of the lakes. Even so, much of western NY to the Finger Lakes will pick up a couple inches of snow on Wednesday.

I have been coming up here 16 years and watched the band sweep right by when it drops south. Later this week looking good right now though. And I have had 14” here since Friday so I’ll take it. How much did you get today?

I use wunderground since the NWS radar is now unusable.. https://www.wunderground.com/radar/us/ny/pulaski/tyx
lakeeffectkid383 Posted January 20 That band is going beast mode right now. It sucks the trough is about to move over northern Lake Erie already. Got another 1-2 hours like this so those who are in it enjoy it! It looks pretty gnarly on the traffic cams from Silver Creek to Hamburg and the 219 in OP.
