In 1990 we hit 85 just 4 days later so while extreme its not that unprecedented. 98 had a long stretch of 80s to end March. Neither one were extremely hot summers

Yeah, just because it's hot now doesn't mean we'll see a scorching hot summer. But, on the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me if we did.

Albany: 81° (old record: 68°, 2000)-warmest so early in the season

Boston: 77° (old record: 72°, 2000)-warmest so early in the season

Bridgeport: 60° (record: 60°, 2002)

Hartford: 81° (old record: 72°, 2000)-warmest so early in the season

Islip: 68° (old record: 64°, 2000)

New York City: 77° (old record: 69°, 2000)-warmest so early in the season

Newark: 82° (old record: 74°, 2000)-warmest so early in the season

Portland: 66° (old record: 55°, 2012)

Providence: 70° (old record: 66°, 2002)

Worcester: 74° (record: 74°, 2000)

Today was actually the first time Newark reached 82 degrees for any day in March since 1998.

 

Its a very impressive stat since its the earliest 80 ever and warmer than any day in March 2012.

But the ridge today was centered further east than 2012 when the peak warmth was focused

over the Midwest.
