I just went out..  we are not getting a lot of melting here near Fuquay at all.  The sun is out but the high albedo is reflecting a lot of it...    I don't think temps get close to 40 with the albedo.

This is my neighborhood street.  Still solid ice.

I think schools will be out again tomorrow.

Yeah, my neighborhood is a solid sheet of ice, no way kids go to school this week.

Ended up with about an inch of compacted sleet on the roadways this morning.  It appears to be deeper in grassy surfaces, but it's so hard to measure accurately.  I have no idea how much moisture this actually was in order to record my "rainfall" totals.

The sledding has been absolutely fantastic this morning!  Almost dangerous, at times.  :sled:

Went for a drive this morning. Still no power. I think it will be awhile. Did not really lose any trees, except for a privacy Leyland. My neighbors did not fare so well. Lots of pines down. Glad I have all hardwoods.

Sun can't break out today , it keeps trying, but temp holding in mid 30s, forecast was mid 40s from local outlets, think we may be a little short, keeping my sleet pack in tact! Maybe hanging on to get max cold tomorrow night and Thursday night!

Same here temps in the upper 20's its melting off the roofs but that's pretty much it, making huge icicles...if we somehow pull off a more widespread organized light snow event with the front and get a general 1-2" hit over the area Thursday and Thursday night might be close to record breaking.

yay the power just came on - thanks Ga Power!!!  it is still below freezing here, wow.  temp is 31 and its cloudy again.  there is still ice everywhere and trees are still covered. its actually really pretty looking - all grey and white.

temp in the house bottomed out at 54 (although i was sitting by the fireplace and warm and toasty lol).  if it doesnt warm up or melt much more by this evening could be another icy night.  just want some of the ice off the larger trees so they dont fall. although i would guess if they havent fallen by now they are probably going to make it.  surprisingly the sleet saved mby it appears.  limbs down, but just one tree this time.  dec 05 took literally half the trees in the neighborhood out completely

Temps just north of Columbia hit the 32F mark just after midnight last night, so there were some ice covered trees this morning.  No issues on the roads.  The GFS had the track perfectly 2 days ago.

Was a winter wonderland this am here. Bottomed out in the upper 20s. Got about 1/10 accumulation in Blythewood. Still lots of ice in the trees even now. Clouds have prevented the temps from rising much. So far, it hasn't gone above 33F.

It never got above freezing here today - topped out at 27, which is what it still is right now. Nothing melted off the trees.

We lost a bunch of pine limbs, to be expected since they are so soft. I didn't see many hardwoods around here lose limbs, just a few. I had to drive down to Marietta this morning and once you get south of Holly Springs, there's absolutely no sign of anything. It was sunny down there too, and stayed cloudy here at the house the entire day. Still cloudy now.

The wind is kicking up, and I'm watching the pine trees in the back yard struggle. I reckon we'll lose a few more limbs before it's over. :(

Well, just got to work....drove from the NE part of Gwinnett over towards the southern end of Hall County and boy, what a mess.  We still don't have power and according to WSB TV, about 70% of Gainesville Hall County is without power.  There are trees and power lines down EVERYWHERE, and that's after you can see where crews have already cleared a lot of downed trees.  Easily the worst ice storm here in the north metro since '05 I would say.

Agree. Drove from northern Forsyth county to Gwinnett this afternoon and couldn't believe the trees down everywhere. Some even fell while we were out, onto roads we had no problems with earlier.

Our power was out from Monday night until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and we still don't have Internet service. School is cancelled for Wednesday although I'm not entirely sure why. Roads are not icy but it may be that some of the more rural roads are still not cleared.

After a predicted high of 39 we only got up to 33. We ended up with about a tenth of an inch of ice but that was enough to bring branches down and cut power. We lost it for 3 hours. The temp went up to 33 early this morning and stayed there until the rain ended and then it dropped back below freezing otherwise it would have been a lot worse than it was. Still lots of ice around and the temp is sitting at 29.
