Today was a beautiful day even though it was windy and 32. It seems warm compared to what I experienced all winter long and there is a certain aura to the area now that there is limited snowcover. Heavily wooded and shaded areas still have just short of 2' while areas with sun and near pavement are absolutely bare and muddy.

This is the area of highland lake right behind my school starting its thaw. Still largely frozen.

Here is the view over to Mt Washington. It was absolutely clear today!

Almost time to depart for a very long time from living in Maine...

temp is dropping like a rock

winds dying down, think we will be close to 10-13 degrees by morning, my location does very well during radiational setups like this.

IMPRESSIVE cold for this time of year, without a snowpack.

I don't know where your house is exactly, but I doubt it will get that cold. 850s are only around -10C, there's no snow pack, and the night is shortened now. I'd think upper teens would do it at the coldest.

This isn't a good radiational setup. NW winds have increased this evening in response to weak CAA aloft, and winds should remain at least 5-10 mph overnight, preventing decoupling and radiational cooling.

The reason temps dropped fast this evening is due to the CAA aloft.

25/4 - brisk morning.

I see red flag warnings are up across the state. Funny because yesterday my neighbor did some burning and I said to him I thought it was a little too windy and dry and sure enough within an hour he had a nice grass fire creeping towards the woods. He and his family and neighbor did a lot of foot stomping and snow shoveling to put it out.

:lol::axe:

Another morning in the 20s out there. After whatever happens later this week, PNA drops and we might see the se ridge trying to flex at times, so I'm not exactly sure it will be very cold in the 11-15 day and beyond. It could be stormy if that boundary is overhead which some models imply.

I also saw some folks out burning, thinking it was pretty windy and dry... but no flags were up at that time.

There is probably a lot of fuel on the ground after this winter. I know around here, we had a lot of branches down, thanks to the 1/12 blizzard.

Yeah, as the snow retreats from my yard, the disaster is being unveiled.

Heavy heavy yard work awaits me.

Moles went crazy. I think they eat grubs, so guess what else I have... :axe:

I still have snow on my driveway (black asphalt) that fell last Monday when we got 3". Granted it is in a shady spot, but that is a testament to the brutal, bone chilling cold we have been experiencing here.

Down to about 50% snow on my lawn... drying up/evaporating.

34 Red Flag Warnings up now, west winds temps should easily approach 50 on that trajectory. Heading to Home Depot to get some support beams for the roof, and make a run on some hydro flakes for the gutters.

Next 3 days looks sunny and beautiful, okx has rain for the end of the week and weekend with temps in the 50's.

National Guard is mobilizing, getting ready for the hundreds of building collapses coming in ct.........God help us.

Same up here. I think burning when there's still a snowpack is the best way to go... I saw a huge fire going yesterday on a farm (looked like he was burning an old shed or something) but it looked pretty contained given the 20" of snow on the ground surrounding the fire.

Interesting that we are descended now less than temperature normal in ORH.... Some other climo sites my fall, too, considering the pattern offers mainly less than normal vibe through the end of the month. So ... that's 4 months now in a row of less than normal.
