  1. Past hour
  2. To have so much frozen over snow still here, is pretty amazing for this area four days later.
  3. Looks like -24F on Feb 16, 1943 https://marine.weather.gov/product.php?site=MHX&issuedby=ORH&product=CLS&format=CI&version=11&glossary=0
  4. They may have had 1 week AN, but not the month. Because they are daily, they can jump around with the best of them as we know. The oldest precip forecast at the free Euro site goes back to the 1/7 forecast. Here's the link. More recent forecasts can be found by clicking on the triangle icon to the top, right of the map. The accuracy of the forecasts probably depend on who's looking at the map! 5. IF you dress properly, walking in the single digits is invigorating. In the worst of heat/humidity you can be naked with a bottle of water and its still miserable. Different strokes.
  6. We can only hope my upstate friend. The fact that the euro has it and now the high resolution models are picking up on it only favors us
  7. Yeah looks like snow may start sooner than later. Haywood county superintendent does a great job heading stuff off also.
  8. One thing ive noticed this week is the AIFS has been horrible with rad cooling over the snowpack. Its a little surprising, given it generally outperforms with regards to temps. But, something is off with a deep snowpack. This morning it was close, but Tuesday and wedneday mornings it was off 10+ across alot of the interior. All models can struggle with it, but the euro op was alot closer. I suppose it could be a resolution issue.
  9. Heh, just saw that. Also looked like it had some decent OES up near you Sunday morning
  10. No doubt southern cities are growing and no doubt that tons of people hate winter. To say "no one" likes deep winter is wrong. You think we are sick, go to the UP and watch people snowmobile for 6 months and then STILL get mad when snow melts in April lol.
  11. Correct. The latest GSP forecast discussion does a really good job talking about this potential meso low. That’s what will give us our good snow if it forms correctly.
  12. It literally looks like Mother Nature is fed up with our complaining about the lack of snow these last four years and is putting her hand over our mouths. Like, "Take this and just be quiet!" LOL
  13. Dang. I have to wonder what ORH was at that time, because CEF kind of sucks except for fake cold. Like today's low was 3.
  14. Yeah, we are finding all of our usual ways to fail. 2 feet of snow becomes 2" sleet bomb - Check 2 feet of snow from coastal, suppressed - Check But, still a memorable stretch of winter due to the cold.
  15. Good luck everyone! It’s been awesome to track some goodness with you all. I’ll be back. Maybe
  16. FV3 still looks solid. RRFS has the most precip minima now but has trended a little better
  17. Have they been all that accurate with precip to date, though? I feel like they called for a very wet January and we got the one big precip storm and that was it.
  18. Since schools were not cancelled today that is probably all for the best. What time is the snow supposed to start?
  19. Its one model relax most forecast has us 4-7 lets go with that and call it a day Sent from my SM-S938U using Tapatalk
  20. My cousin is a mailman. He is not a weather enthusiast at all really, though he does more or less like the 4 seasons. He has no overall preference of winter or summer (though Id give the lean towards summer as hes a baseball fanatic) and he says absolutely without a doubt if he had to choose between the bitter cold and extreme heat/humidity, hed take the cold all day every day.
