Wouldn’t be surprised if we get a curveball cold month or two this winter. Ofc odds are def leaning towards mild and wet overall ala classic Nino and even just considering our recent trash winter climo regardless of ENSO conditions. However you can never discount a rando month or two where conditions set up perfectly on our side of the globe for cold/snow while Siberia and the oppo side torches.

Looks like the heat and humidity will begin to ease up next week.

No serious flooding will occur further south because the river becomes wider and deeper. (Ref. F2 Tornado Hits Brooklyn) 2020: The heavy rains started on the 4th from Tropical storm Isaias that brough 2.53 inches of precipitation to Springfield Park on the 4th and some areas had a lot more rain. Places will see 90s during the 6 day stretch and potentially all for a 6 day heatwave Thu around the Atlantics ridge and S/SW flow. Beyond there 8/12 the Atalntic ridge pushes south and western ridge builds back pushing a trough into the northeast - near / slightly below normal 8/12 - 8/16 before moderation back to near normal overall.

Although the -SOI streak is up to a whopping 89 days and it will reach the low 90s (2nd longest on record back to 1991 by a large margin to early 1998’s 100 days), there’s a good chance it will finally end early next week short of the 100 day record with at least one smallish +SOI as it now appears. Let’s see what actually happens.
