Post some pictures if you can. Should be really nice. Sand in the bags really helps against the wind.

It's not snow you want ... it's snow depicted for a cinema-dopa connection. It's created out of advancing technology's affect ( and effect) going on with our species. LOL it's true though. If folks wouldn't "bi-polar" dial into the next model cycle you wouldn't have these group collective morosity waves that are more powerful than anything this type of persistent synoptic hemisphere ever had any hope of really delivering in the first place. But this latter aspect ... never seems to stop you. You have a big ridge in the middle longitudes of the continent, with a deep layer circumstantial NW flow - what part of that large scale footprint has ever correlated to significant snow? Not many. Stop on expectation failure one. Failure two, meanwhile ... the mid and ext range guidance give these 'so-so gets hammered' dopa hits, when guidance over all consummately proves over-amplified since antiquity at this point ...and invariably needs to be corrected down. The problem is that the return users in here are dopa challenged in their lives - most likely. Perhaps then channeling a means to fulfill it by creating this weather graphics triggering mechanism. Or they've just fallen victim to the "blue-light special" - psychotropic addictive aspect that is proven to be a thing. I feel the former is correct, however, based upon my own experience. I have created hobbies and successes in areas of life that do not require this weather -related stuff. I get joy from those engagements... and, most importantly, when that happened, I stopped caring about the former - or caring as much. I mean... I like seeing the charts and evolution of interesting events. But it's not required. I think if folks understood these aspects it might help them self-regulate their moods better. That's the only purpose for bringing this up. -

Eventually something will break….but it’s frustrating for sure. But the sad part is, this was how it was/used to be, and for a good long while…so this can and does happen. Just gotta grin and bear it. -
My brother had a husky when he lived upstate in lake effect country. There was no keeping that dog inside when it was cold and whiteout snows.

The hope was it would be better than the NAM at 48-84 and the HRRR at 48 but so far its been as bad or worse than the NAM in that range. Its best feature is its been handling the mid levels as good as the 3km NAM or better and worlds better than the HRRR. I still think that the NWS will let the NAM run for several years with no upgrades as they did the NGM because people will want access to its MOS product. The RRFS will have no MOS product due to its resolution evidently which would make it overly sensitive to microclimate features so we'd be down to just the GFS MOS and that is all once the NAM is DFA'd

it always amazes me how we can go a week with temps in the teens but as soon as a decent system with some moisture rolls along, were battling precip issues. This upcoming ice event will be two decent systems in a row with precip issues, all while below avg temps this month.

Yeah I wouldn't use it now. Its bouncing all over

I maybe the minority here but a 2"-3" sleet bomb is going to be a lot memorable than 4" of snow Sent from my SM-S731U using Tapatalk -

Maybe immediately that might be the case, but everything into January is stepping down to a colder solution with flocking. I'm not saying this is the answer to our prayers LOL, but warming coming our way. Way. That's just not what's showing. Plus the warm pattern that was showing is already being squashed as it has been thus far. -

Snow Potential Dec 26-27

Just the other day I stumbled into a thread highlighted in a twitter post, in which people were asking for advice on whether they should call the animal services, 911, etc due to a neighbor 'leaving' their huskies out in the cold and snow. Consistent with what you guys are saying here, the replies were along the lines of 'huskies love the cold and snow, they probably insist on staying outside' They said that if it's cold and raining that's a different story, but if it's dry it's totally fine and the dogs love it. My faith in humanity ticked up a bit. and I was actually pleasantly surprised to see, that the people asking about it had the sense to ask first before calling the police. -
It's a beyond terrible model, I don't even bother looking at it. Not saying we're getting a crippling ice storm, but it'll be disruptive to a few areas here I think.

Isn't the RRFS a very short range model? Better within 24hrs?

After 1.5" here yesterday it's 43 and will be a Brown Christmas as the winter wonderland yesterday is a distant memory.. Guidance busted horribly with temps.. Was a disaster this morning when it dropped to 31 unexpectedly now it's much warmer than guidance had 43 at 10am with the snow 99% gone.. -
