All 3 Ensembles depict a chance for a winter storm mid month. That has looked like the most favorable window for awhile now. The difference compared to now is enough of a pattern change to inhibit significantly below avg cold to make it into our area, so as it looks currently, marginal cold would have to do it along with a favorable storm track and dynamics. That's all stuff that cant be resolved this far out.

I woke up today still mad about the dry slot.

Just hit 5.6! One thermometer in Conover on Weather Underground was 1.1. Down near Salisbury many folks below zero, in the deepest snow pack.

What? People literally been ice fishing here for close to eight weeks.

I can't believe we're not going to stay this cold. I'm shocked theres a warmup after weeks record cold, snowpack, frozen bay. I hope our snowmobile trails hold up. Oh wait. This is Maryland, not the Tug lol.

KMGJ, two miles up the road is currently -7 and I'm +3. I always find this stuff interesting, I don't recall ever having such a large difference with KMGJ.

Last weekend the ice here was just starting to thicken safely after the first two weeks of warmth. But then the snow came to insulate it. I know even the ponds in SNH had slush at the bottom of the snowpack.

Down to 8F so far this am; does anyone have some lake/pond ice depths in SNE? Got To think we close to be over 12” or more in most areas.

-3 this morning, was surprised that the high temp. yesterday reached 30.

3.4 this morning. My coldest in a long time

It’s currently 1° at the house, and I’m on a hill above the lake. Most certainly is below zero around the sheltered valleys. I also see TRI is reporting -6° Wow! MRX issued a cold weather advisory for just the temperatures as they said they didn’t expect it to get this cold. As others have said, it’s the power of a healthy snowpack. It will do it every time.

Forecast for today: It’s gonna be cold, it’s gonna be grey, and it’s gonna last you for the rest of your life. .

Euro AI is pretty amped. Definitely trending towards a little snow, although temps will be borderline for accumulation
