2026-2027 Fall/Winter Mountain Thread
Tyler Penland replied to BlueRidgeFolklore's topic in Southeastern States
Saw a video of some solid snow falling up at Mitchell this morning. Top of Beech saw some flakes. Spent the day down at the Valle Fair and pumpkin patch with the kids. Hard to beat this kind of fall weather. Gonna hit up Woolly Worm tomorrow- the rain and 30s wasn't calling my name this morning lol. -

tornado reports from a few days ago

Clear and calm and down to 38°. Looks like first freeze is a pretty good bet here tonight.

Today was a splendid fall day. Temps in the mid 50s, windy, leaves blowing around, cool, I loved it. Still not cold enough for jeans or a jacket so still short sleeves and shorts for me. Steady rain this morning was nice as well. Picked up .67" in the PWS today. I felt like I was back in North Jersey in Late October.

Wind still gassing here. Violent place.

Thanks, Adam. I’m certainly not worried about a persistent SE ridge this winter! -

Damn. Good point I did not consider the World Cup. Would hate to see the fail. It’s like when we had the world tour of surfing in Long Beach in 2011 with the biggest prize in surfing history $1,000,000 (still to this day). The whole world made fun of it and then they scored perfect 8-10’ hurricane surf. But the next year 2012 it was flat the same 2 weeks in September. (It was canceled) .
