  1. Past hour
  2. Had some good sleet coming down for a bit outside of Coatesville. Lighter precip in moving in mixed back to rain. One of the wilder variations in temps and weather I’ve seen in awhile. 82 to sleet in the span of what, 36-48 hours? see if we can manage a little snow accumulation later
  3. May see multiple rounds of squalls NOP tomorrow evening into the early overnight. Even a bit unstable too so can't rule out some thunder/lightning
  4. 2000-01 had one of the best packs we've had here, especially late - 48" OG at my 9 PM obs time on March 31. Even Fort Kent (avg winter 134" in our 10 years there) never entered April with that much. 2004-05 was back loaded here as well. Thru the first week of February we'd not had a single event of 4"+, which is ridiculous for a locale that averages almost 90"/year. Then we had 60" in the next 31 days, 2/10 thru 3/13, to finish at 94.3". 2002-03 has similarities with this winter: lots of suppressed events, one big storm and little else of note, and cold. That season had 13.8" on Jan 3-4 and nothing else greater than 7" (and that came in November), finishing more than 20" BN. This winter it's 19.6" on Jan 25-27 and nothing else beyond 8.5", though that #2 event came on Christmas Eve and provided loads of fun for the grandkids. Their previous Christmas visit, in 2023, failed to show them a single flake or snow pile until they were headed home on Dec 30.
  5. So, I just went to the highest point close to my house (Ironville Park at ~700') and sure enough got to see the transition from sleet to big wet snowflakes. Was snowing pretty good up there when I left, with still some sleet mixing in and obviously not laying, but cool nonetheless. Figured it may be the last time for the season (although also maybe not be ha) so wanted to find some elevation. Earlier when I took the kids to school there was just some sleet mixing in as I drove over the ridge towards Mountville. Cold air really advecting in well. Since midnight my high was 63 with a low of 38 occurring right now. I'll get a gauge reading on total liquid later when things wrap up. Not much activity around here last evening as most of the good stuff scooted by me but nice to see the discussion on that impressive cell north of Harrisburg yesterday. Onward.
  6. definitely the leader in the clubhouse for the 2026 Forky Award (given to the best wrong forum hit and run post which riles up the locals)
  7. Somewhere in this thread I mentioned that there will be "chances" if the clipper pattern remains in place...
  8. According to googler Ai slopolopolis some previous 8 in stone was close to 2 lbs. Could you imagine getting hit in the head w a mini gym weight falling out of the sky at 100+mph? Shit could glance off my back and I'd probably choose to die anyway.
  9. Picked up .97" rainfall overnight. Still raining at 9am with a much colder temperature of 40, with a gusty wind.
  10. Lol literally just saw this thread right now. Had no idea Let’s go!
  11. Some of the strongest backdoor cold fronts on record in the Northeast during the spring have occurred following record warmth. https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/ma/east-boston/KBOS/date/2002-4-17 PM 93 °F 51 °F 24 % W 18 mph 23 mph 29.83 in 0.0 in Mostly Cloudy 4:54 PM 93 °F 49 °F 22 % W 17 mph 26 mph 29.82 in 0.0 in Partly Cloudy 5:54 PM 91 °F 49 °F 23 % W 14 mph 0 mph 29.82 in 0.0 in Mostly Cloudy 6:32 PM 66 °F 50 °F 56 % NNE 26 mph 33 mph 29.87 in 0.0 in Mostly Cloudy / Windy 6:54 PM 59 °F 50 °F 72 % NNE 25 mph 35 mph 29.91 in 0.0 in Cloudy / Windy 7:54 PM 55 °F 49 °F 80 % ENE 7 mph 0 mph 29.95 in 0.0 in Mostly Cloudy 8:54 PM 55 °F 50 °F 83 % N 8 mph 0 mph 29.96 in 0.0 in Partly
  12. this would be fatal to the dome, right?
  13. Basically, had a heavy shower that made things go to all sleet and even some slush balls, but as soon as it got lighter it went back to rain with some sleet and now just light rain with an occasional pinger. So, type of precip seems rate dependent which makes sense. Close to 38..was a bit cooler in the heavy precipitation
  14. I feel your pain. At least you turned around and got something. We were close for Pontiac and saw ground circulation. By time we saw storm was planting a big one we were too far west. I will forever regret that decision.
  15. I'm down at the Executive Office Building and yes it's a legit snow sleet mix. Incredible.
  16. 06z GFS does look relatively wintry. Has a clipper next week and a little critter coastal in clown range
  17. I’m issuing a puddle warning for Frederick. Guys, be careful out there.
  18. Pingers??? I guess this means Free Agency has begun, and it's Eagles season again.
  19. That was a monumentally shitty post, and we've had enough shitty posts in here over the years to be able to spot them!
  20. Down to 39.9. Still a rain/sleet mix but more sleet now in the mix.
  21. Bye bye remaining mounds of snow. There were still some stragglers, but this rainstorm has finished them off.
