  1. Past hour
  2. -7 was the low here. Winds calmed down enough locally here overnight.
  3. The heat island effect wasn't as significant as it is today. Between transmission lines, steam lines, water and sewer lines, asphalt, concrete, steel and glass buildings makes it that much harder to get below zero as it did years ago.
  4. Got it this morning (see below). Bit of a random stat but pick any number and it seems impressive.
  5. That’s rough! Fortunately it’s never happened to me but it’s always been a fear of mine. I got a refill last year and I must have been down to my last drop. The guy knocked on my door to see if I was still alive…lol! Good luck!
  6. ORH has an outside chance of breaking their sub-32F streak too but they’d have to survive a marginal day or two later this week. Don’t think they will but still pretty impressive they have a shot at all. Kind of matches what we’ve all felt…it’s been very consistently solid cold even though the very high-end airmasses have been a little less than you’d expect out of a prolonged cold pattern.
  7. 2.4 this morning. Already up to 10 though. Looks like the -1.6 will be the coldest temp of the season.
  8. Sure, we haven’t broken all time records, but the consistent deep cold has been the big story for the area/SNE imo.
  9. Maybe you should open a lgbtq thread so you can go be fruity by yourself in there.
  10. Warmth will be closer to normal but not a torch. If we do it will be transient - February averages looking to be below normal for the month.
  11. Ok…I missed that stat I guess. Was just trying to understand in what way he was basing that on.
  12. If you haven't seen the Lindsey Vonn crash yet, don't. She shouldn't been on the slopes with a torn ACL and that crash...
  13. BOS threatening their 1918 sub-34F high streak.
  14. Got fouled at the end when he had the defender in the air then went up for the layup
  15. So are you locking in that? We're going to be in the '50s for a few days. You're 100% sure that's what's going to happen? In all seriousness, we all know that spring will get here eventually. I think the point is, some people are just tired of waiting for things to happen ( while waiting for things they want to happen ), I call it winter fatigue. There's more bullets in the chamber. And of course we're not going to get this bitterly Arctic cold again this winter, but winter's not over. You can lock that in
  16. Yeah that was a brutal one. First week of the month I think ORH set 3 daily records. We had like a 10-12” frozen glacier. Then we finally torched mid month before the cold returned for the St Pattys day storm
  17. Let’s get another March 07 airmass. I was ripping 5/-22 with 40mph wind and sun in the afternoon and watching my snow sublimate before my eyes.
  18. What a brutal 2 weeks stretch for Lindsey Vonn. Torn ACL a week ago in final race prior to Olympics and today she crashed moments into her race run and was airlifted to hospital. What an amazing feat of pure will and fortitude to even want to attempt to race. Hope she’s ok. sidenote, fellow American Breezy Johnson won gold.
  19. I was thinking about this yesterday- this has been the longest stretch of prolonged cold that I can remember in years. I feel like we've lived in the teens and 20s for weeks. And yet my lowest temp for the entire winter may end up as 5 degrees. Just the way it worked out with wind and clouds at night.
  20. When you're running the longest stretch of chilly high temps in over a hundred years it's a low bar to say the worst is likely over (after a few more cold days w/snow)
  21. Re-visit August 8th when cold bozos "SuMMeR BaCk IS BrOkeN" which is also true
