  1. Past hour
  2. This winter, so far, has been a lot colder than 20-21. In fact, there's even a possibility that DJF could end up being the coldest on since 93-94. Maybe even, 76-77!
  3. I agree. The cold is very dependent on the NS wave train as vortices move through the 50-50 region. We don't have a typical NAO Rex block with a quasi-stationary/closed (50-50)low underneath a poleward ridge, so the confluence is fleeting.
  4. I got 4” just about 4 miles north of RDU so I consider that a good snow. Late banding helped some of us from disaster. .
  5. Met spring, true, but here March is 50/50 - 50% transition month and 50% winter month.
  6. Roads are a mess, 6 car accident on 44. Middleboro PD called in the afternoon shift early to keep up with calls.
  7. After the window on the 14-15th...it looks like a sustained return to cold looks like it begins around the 21st. That "should last through March 10th-ish...could be longer. Watching the Winter Olympics is a great way to pass the time, and see a lot of Alps snow.
  8. Back to very light snow, wonder if that’s it or if the stuff north will rotate through
  9. With that depiction verbatim, I think the first wave will actually work better for us on the 13th. By the time the second one gets here, cold air might be leaving. Details will change and we will know soon enough which wave the models are really keying on for us.
  10. oof! wind is atrocious, got about an inch but the cold and winds are the business! deep winter out there
  11. The magnetic rope ties on my patio curtains have been blown off. Unbelievable!
  12. I can see the dark cloud base past the other side of the canal.
  13. Awesome hoping that swings east more than south
  14. Without having looked at a model or any posts, I'm going to make a prediction: the 12Z models show at least a couple of big snowstorms next weekend. No way do we get 139 replies in the 5 hours I've been away, otherwise. Ok, time to check. Edit: guess it was more the LI/CT/RI/MA snow, although CMC and AIFS look promising for next Sun/Mon.
  15. I’ve conceded that Raleigh just isn’t going to get a big storm this year. I’m sure Columbia, the upstate, Charlotte, ATL, Athens, the triad, eastern NC, roxboro to Elizabeth city, Florida panhandle, waycross GA, mobile AL, OBX, southern Virginia, low country SC, and Savannah Ga are all still in the game though
  16. Snow picking back up here a bit . Viz coming back down
  17. 4.2” total with flurries . Winds really cranking now with gusts to 40
