"Don’t do it" 2026 Blizzard obs, updates and pictures.

Occam's razor. Either 50+ trained spotters with corroborating radar history + liquid equivalent measurements + hundreds of non-trained measurers were completely off their rockers and ALL mismeasured by half the storm's total or greater, or.. one emotionally-charged postered missed out on the best banding, and got salty about it? -

I went out to 6 towns only 4 hours after the show stopped, and 6 More towns 15 hours after the snow stopped. And that STILL doesn't explain getting almost Half of what it should have been. If you get 36"-39" of show, it should be AT LEAST 31"-32" Compact or else we should ERASE All previous statistics of snow history cause we're lying to ourselves in how we measure. And you want to say it compacted a few inches by the time I got to some of these spots? Sure. So I should have seen copious 28" measurements, and hence 33"+ snow depth measurements with the spots that had previous snow beneath. And yet you saw what you saw. Consistent 14"-18", including my town. Just as the piles in my town look almost Identical to the Providence and Cranston bullseye. You're All telling me The Storm Compacted 40%+ in 4 hours or 50% in 15 hours? Give me a break. That's Never happened in any storm Ever around here. -
Make sense, but trix is reporting heavy rain.
-
That’s after the 70’s to near 80 period…is that correct.
-
Yea, might be bright banding. I’m on the northern edge, but hasn’t been pouring or anything.

Central PA Winter 25/26 Discussion and Obs
Itstrainingtime replied to MAG5035's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
Interesting. The temperature gradient in the midwest is oriented north to south like we'd might expect, but in the east it's oriented west to east. Is that simply due to the deep snowpack in the northeast? -
I'm hearing my raindrops, so I think there's some sleet mixed in up here.

So how much snow did I get? Tell me, how much did I get? I've only been measuring storms since 2002, and apparently I'm 15" off on this storm, so please tell me, with a 14" compact total at the highest, and 18" at Best guess with the 6 hour rule, How much did I get? -
Woo hoo over 1”! Great rain today
-
Thanks for always keeping good records (with pretty maps )

I wasn't aware that in the Entertainment Industry, you are NOT supposed to show your accolades on your channel. I guess everyone has been doing it wrong. And Another Presumptive Lie - I was ASKED By those TEDx organizations to give talks. You don't just apply and get them. And My first one in 2013 was The First in the WORLD on the Accordion. It's sad I have to defend my music career on a weather board because you people are acting like this. Provide. Evidence. Against. What I showed in the video. SHOW ME Videos of people's measurements and time lapses. Not going after my music career with baseless BS. -

Okay you got me, and all of the shadow measurers who've co-conspired to fake the snowfall totals all across SNE, working in collaboration with Big Accordion to get you so frustrated with this hobby that you go out and impulse buy 10 Pigini Mythos accordions to fix the snow drift-sized hole in your heart. You've busted us, just like your snow forecast busted. The jig is up. You happy now? -
@The 4 SeasonsAre those maps for 25-26 incorporating every snowfall? I assume so given the amounts less than 1" plotted. If so, plymouth county is crushing it. WTF.
-
Euro AI says a cold dump is imminent before the end of March methinks. The SSW is flooding the Pole with high pressure and warm air. If I'm not mistaken, that anomalous High Pressure over the Black Sea region on this map is related to the SSW.

2.4 inches here. Creek is at a winter high today.

Ensembles are slowly coming around to the idea of one last hurrah pattern starting sometime near mid-month and we'll see how long it can hold on against climo that turns hostile pretty quickly.

FYI, NCEP's ongoing retreat from broad data access is poised to continue. On or around March 9th, the daily or monthly composite maps will no longer contain updated data. https://psl.noaa.gov/news/2026/r1datanotice.html Below is one of the products that won't be updated. -
WTH is causing that heavy band from martinsburg, frederick to Towson??
-
I haven't seen snow melt this fast since Feb 2006...lol! Much of this weekend's gains have been wiped out, exposing the crusty underlayer from January's storm that remain.

It's a Pocket One Genius, Given to me by our Senator at his DC office years ago. Asshat. Not a freaking Parchment Paper from the 18th Century. You guys Absolutely Suck. And for F's Sake WHAT was a Joke in the video? That I couldn't find ONE Single Measurement over 18.5" even though I went to 24 spots over 12 towns Less than 15 hours after the storm ended?
