  1. Past hour
  2. 29 for the low here, first freeze of the season. This brief cold shot reminds me of what most of November 1977 was like. Repeated frontal passages followed by cold stratocumulus skies.
  3. For even the older cronies here, there was a significant lack of big snows prior to 1979. It seems to me that they’ve became more common, or at least less rare, since then. Maybe we’ve gotten a little spoiled because they had been happening somewhat regularly right up to 2016.
  4. That legit lol. Let’s get first accumulation on the Cape before Templeton MA.
  5. My personal weather station on Staten Island got down to 32 degrees. Currently in Ocho Rios Jamaica where it’s 81 and humid. We had a thunderstorm here a few hours ago. You can see some signs of damage from Melissa, but otherwise business as usual
  6. Light snow now. The kids are excited to see the first flakes of the season.
  7. I remember my father, uncles, friends and all who served. As always ….
  8. Yes, China's nuclear generation is increasing rapidly. They are also adding large amounts of hydro and wind. However their biggest source of their new non-fossil power this year is solar. The solar they are installing this year is roughly equivalent to the entire US nuclear fleet.
  9. Had a heavy enough shower of graupel to dust the driveway about 10 minutes ago. It's 38°, so it doesn't lay for long. Low this morning was 32°, but really 32.5° so not freezing. I use a convention of rounding the .5 to the nearest even whole number. I think it is unlikely that my sensor is accurate to a tenth of a degree, so its all funny money.
  10. Just dropped off my wife at her appointment and seeing some snowflakes fall into the windshield... And I am content. Winter is here Sent from my SM-S166V using Tapatalk
  11. We’d picked up about another 1½” of snow at our site this morning by the time I headed out, so being right along the spine in the Winooski Valley, we appeared to be getting in on a bit of that blocked flow as often happens. You can definitely see those echoes sneaking through the Winooski Valley on the radar image.
  12. As of 651am KNYC KJFK KEWR all reported 33.1° as their mins. Maybe KNYC briefly dropped lower after that time. KLGA 34°. KTEB was 32°. KFRG also 33.1°, but had missing obs from 553am and 653am.
  13. Sierra may get a storm but the upshot of it is torrential RAIN at 9,500 feet with a flooded start to the ski season at Mammoth, record amounts of water accumulations to ski in on Opening Day! They might have to break out the water skis! They are gonna need a bigger boat! On the Slopes! Or inner tubes to ride all of the waters cascading off the slopes! This is going to be an extremely wild winter! 90,000 percent above normal snows in the Great Lakes. South very warm all winter, Texas included. Might have to open the public pools in Jan-Feb from highs in the 90s in Austin. Its gonna hit 87 again tomorrow! West Coast extremely above normal temps resulting in barren muddy slopes into April 2026. Many western ski resorts will shut down, some permanently. Alleghenies 50,000 percent above normal snows from LES bands demolishing them non stop thru May 2026! Mid Atlantic is going to end up catastrophically below normal temps right into June 2026. The upshot of that, will be ridiculously above normal snow tallies in the DC Region well into the spring. This is going to be a La Nina to remember for decades.
  14. He's a snow weenie. He went big a few years ago and it was the kiss of death. Tom always goes early.
