Annual VT Summer flooding coming early?
-
Does Jspin ever post in the warm season? Never see reports of rainfall there. It’s like he takes his family into the basement and just lowers a bucket of bread and water down to them for 6 months until November.

Lava Rock started following May 2025 Obs/Discussion

Wow, zilch to boom in 15 minutes. Blew up right over us. A quick quarter inch with several loud cracks of thunder. Wasn't expecting that.
-
Severe is no fun when you're on the receiving end of the damage. The September 2010 tornado passed literally above my house. It was a weak one so my house was fine but I lost so many giant trees in the neighborhood it still pisses me off to this day.
-
Looks like a crappy Memorial Day weekend, unfortunately, but hopefully we turn a corner and get drier, warmer weather after.
-
Looks like another violent day there.
-
Gfs is unusable

I do not remember hail with that storm. But I remember every second of the downburst like it was yesterday. I had a friend visiting from Jersey and he was freaking out. It was dark as night with torrents of sideways rain hitting the house. There is something about the smell of the air from all the crushed leaves that’s unforgettable after the storm. I’m trying to think if we have ever had a severe storm before Memorial Day on the island. I know we had hail in the April mid 90s NE severe outbreak. The stabilizing effect of the ocean is just too powerful the majority of the time in the spring. Which is exactly what has happened with this current event.

Flash flooding now. 3”/hr rain rate and water coming over driveways on RT 100.
-
I think last winter’s cold was driven by the the +QBO/cold-ENSO. The +QBO/cold-ENSO combo very strongly supports the poleward ridging (-EPO) we saw. The cold was all -EPO driven. That combo also strongly supports a cold stratosphere, which is something else we saw last winter. StormchaserChuck pointed this out several times
-
At least 14 dead in that late night Kentucky tornado. They expect that to increase.
-
0.17” rain yesterday. After yesterday the average monthly temperature is now warmer in Paducah.
-
Yeah it feels like we flipped the calendar back a few pages to be sure. Pretty brisk out there this morning.

Spring 2025 Medium/Long Range Discussion

I searched it up because I was curious myself and someone wrote that their grandmother told them that when she was little it used to snow in May once or twice every so often. Someone else said it snows there in the 2010s as well. It can't be that rare then I guess. A week or two ago some peaks in Greece got some snow as well.

Beautiful morning. Having my tea out on the deck. While the dew point is still high, the humidity is not in the 80’s. Nice breeze out of the South.
-
Not saying it’s going to be warm next week . But if we can keep pushing storm south and stay dry it’ll be fine. Next weekend will easily be near 70 + by Sunday or Monday . And then we really warm thereafter into Junorch .
-
it worked at least this morning it's been sunny here
-
I wonder how that works, maybe the winds here cleared out the fog early here? It was foggy here last night but clear as a bell when I woke up.
- Today

Oh I love hail, give me hail over any of the other stuff. I think the storm you're talking about had that, I enjoyed that one. I just do not want lightning-- unless it's ball lightning lol. I enjoyed the Labor Day 1998 tornado outbreak, but moreso because the tornado didn't hit my house lol.
-
I can't think of anything better than dry and below normal temps lol
-
Sunny for most in the next 90 minutes
