A cooler regime is in place and will remain in place through the remainder of July. Highs will generally reach the lower 80s through much or all of the remainder of July. The warmest spots could reach the middle 80s on occasion. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was +3.6°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was +2.1°C for the week centered around July 15. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged +3.20°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged +1.82°C. The ongoing strong El Niño will continue to strengthen through the summer. The SOI was -12.70 yesterday. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was +0.537 today. Based on sensitivity analysis applied to the latest guidance, there is an implied near 73% probability that New York City will have a cooler than normal July (1991-2020 normal). July will likely finish with a mean temperature near 76.7° (0.8° below normal). Supplemental Information: The projected mean would be 0.2° above the 1981-2010 normal monthly value.

It finally rained IMBY today. 1.25" is the most I've recorded in a day since 5/6. Monthly total for July is still only about 40% of normal. I think I might be the only person in the state with worsening drought conditions. -
1.84" and currently 70. Daily high was 77 at 12:19am.

Def BN and comfortable for at least the next 2 weeks, which is awesome to say during our peak summer weeks. Not every year we get a consistent 2 week block of average-below average temps and low humidity, especially in peak climo time After the 1st week of august that could change a bit of course, it is still summer after all and I doubt we finish out meteorological summer without a another push of AN temps but at that point we’re really starting to see seasonal changes regarding daylight and staying power of any high heat. It’s all downhill from here. Not sure what the argument is

Did the wind have anything to do with it failing? Only good thing is at least we are having cool weather and less humidity for cleanup. - Today

This is just ridiculous. Westerlies clear across the entire tropical Pacific basin -
Strong Ninos are supposed to have cool summers and we'll be near normal at best
-
Finally, we're experiencing what summer should be!! Took long enough.

if it’s too dry the dogs will dry out. you have to keep the dogs moist
-
I will go with colder than 94-95, but warmer than 09-10, for this upcoming winter. Depends on the PDO, though. If it stays deeply negative, it will end up closer to 94-95, but if it can go towards neutral, then it will end up closer to 09-10.

Yes, the grass never seems to dry off regardless of whether it rains that day. Mowing is a pain in the ass of late. -
Id rather dry than rain. Cleaning the dogs paws off because of constant mud is annoying.
-
i want as much rain as possible

Jebman replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
The excellent news keeps on coming! We are gonna have such an exciting very rainy fall/winter here in Texas! Bring on that MONSTER NINO and the Brobdingnagian subtropical jet!!!!!!! This place is soon gonnabe flood central!!!! Lookin forward to some truly EPIC jebwalks near where the waters are rising, while I use my old snow ruler to measure the water depth just like the old days back in the DMV! -
I am jealous of your cool July weather!

We can only hope for this prediction to come true
