It’s fairly common for me. Average first freeze here is 10/22 with the hard freeze date of 10/28. The dates I’ve recorded both on the same date are: 11/12/05, 10/14/06, 10/20/08, 10/19/09, 10/13/12, 10/31/14, 10/17/24. The dates I have that there were back to back dates (likely the same night but I’d have to dig further into my records to see the times of the recorded lows) are: 11/1-11/2/10, 10/17-10/18/15, 11/3-11/4/21, 11/1-11/2/23, 10/9-10/10/25.

39F Cloudy with a few breaks. The mountain tops in the Cardigan range are obscured from time to time in light snow showers. Nothing here. Why is the wind almost non existent? A gentle NW breeze 5 to 10mph but I won't consider it a windy morning. Is there a follow-up push or trough expected today?

.57", since midnight, 1.29" event total. You got me curious so double checked to make sure my PWS is working right based on other nearby obs. Since midnight lines up with Lusby and Cambridge mesonets which was the direction the rain was moving from. Easton meso must have just been just missing the rates or has something messing up the reading cause that is much lower than adjacent sites. Other local pws in Easton have similar event totals. Much needed rain. 36.68" for the year now. Still might get average rainfall amount even with prolonged drought.

I'm glad I covered as much of my garden as possible because we got a couple degrees colder than expected. The airport and the personal stations near me got down to near 30º.

It’s snowing! Still on the mountain (some cell service) and it’s alternating between bursts of dendrites and sleety rain. Moss is a bit white. Totally worth the trip.

A thunder shower is a downpour with a rumble or two…that is over in literally a few minutes, a completely benign event. Pretty much what rolled through last night here. Severe weather is not a thunder shower. And any on camera MET who used/uses thunder shower for legit severe weather, should be ashamed of themselves.

HRRR says we start to clear out after noon. A good morning to get stuff done. It’s currently 33 with winds gusting to 28 at dolly sods. And full blown winter conditions in NNE where KMWN is reporting below 0 WCs with snow accumulating.

Current temp of 50 is the low. Only .12” of rain as the storm line was pretty underwhelming here. Down near freezing the next couple nights, time to bring the palm in for the year. Onward.
