Yes the farther south the better. New England type climates suck so it's best to be as far away from that region as possible.

isn't that ULL *moving out* though, that's what all the TV mets have been saying.

2025 Lawns & Gardens Thread. Making Lawns Great Again
dendrite replied to Damage In Tolland's topic in New England
@Ginx snewx This thing has already put on a foot this year…more than any other tree I have. After years maybe it’s finally done with the taproot. -
Yeah some periods of sun with popcorn showers in between. In a SHRA currently. 53.5° so far is a win!
-
Still raining. 47F. Snowing up at 4kft.

It is. They do have some good building blocks that just need experience. Happy to see a vets like Middleton and Smart there to teach. Still miffed about the draft lottery; too much of a coincidence to not make you wonder. OKC did a great job building their team. Hoping the Wiz can do the same.

Much better today than forecasted. Lots of breaks and up near 60 already.

NYC had a max of 46 (26° BN) on 5/25/67, coldest max on record by 16 days (44 on 5/9/77, another remarkable day). They also had a 3-day cold snap in mid-March (16-18) that had means of -23/-28/-26, followed by a 9.8" storm a couple days later. It was also memorable in NNJ - March had 30"+ snowfall, a max of 10 on 3/17 and low of -3 the next day. April 24 had 1.5" as a coastal storm was finishing then 3" overnight on the 27th, the 2 latest dates I recorded measurable snow. May 25 rain was modest, but wind toppled several newly leaved oaks.

I think a hire like that is coming, but for now they seem content letting the team struggle/learn and get picks. One more year of this and it’ll be go time…if not sooner…if Keefe doesn’t show improvements. This upcoming draft is huge for them.

For like the 9th weekend in a row I too will NOT be birdwatching, i.e., not viewing an O’s games.

2025 Mid-Atlantic Garden, Lawn, and Other Green Stuff Thread

Yeah I have plenty of moss. Where it grows, I leave it, but weeds grow through it. One side of my back yard(the area over the septic drain field) gets a lot of sun in the summer, and it wont grow there. -
To add to this:
-
Low temp 48 imby/Columbia Saturday morning.
-
Sunny at jones beach. Hopefully it holds out

About ten years ago I abandoned the lawn merry-go-round and let my front yard go back to nature. Planted a few trees and shrubs and now it looks like a maturing second growth forest. Very nice. Same with my back yard sans the septic field. I have a few small lawn patches left but they're mostly shade and have turned into moss which looks a good as lawn but doesn't need any water or cutting. Used to have to mow my lawn weekly but now I only break out the mower about twice a summer. Not sure how big lawns ever became desirable. -
Years ago, I read that water's erosive power was a 5th-order function, meaning that for a given volume, doubling the velocity increases erosive power by a factor of 32.

Photos I took of the Akron, CO tornado yesterday. Edited slightly to make the tornado pop a bit more, the dust made the visibility super low!

From a brief partly cloudy to mostly cloudy now as the ULL spins around to our north. Clouds back to and through PA look to keep it mostly or mainly cloudy the rest if the morning into the early PM.

That's exactly where I got the wildflower seed mix I planted in the Spring. Great website. For the rest of the back garden area, I want a clover field lawn with wildflowers mixed in. I will probably just buy white clover seeds and the flower seeds from American meadows and mix it in. That link in my other post was for the picture- showing the look I want(minus the grass). -
52 was my low. It’s windy today - blowing in the upper 20s. We’re off to search for a new bed. Wish us luck. It’s confusing af.

Talking with my sons about the Wiz (One who played D3 and has friends in the NBA) and we were wondering why they don't look to hire Mike Malone or Taylor Jenkins. Both have built teams and with the young talent the Wiz do have, could be a good 2-3 year project to build a competitive team.

Probably best spot in SNE today.
