The past week has been one of the most active weeks of stormy weather in the region for a very long time with multiple MCSs and derechos causing repeated instances of widespread tree damage and even some structural damage with the northwest flow around the ridge of high pressure that has been parked to our west-southwest. During the September 1^st through September 6^th period much of the region has received 8 to 14 inches of rain with most areas seeing peak wind gusts from severe thunderstorms during this period in the 70 to 85 mph range. Now we watch as a deepening trough drops into the region with causing the flow locally to back to southerly. With a surface low developing nearby over the region in response to this trough southeasterly surface flow will bring in mid 70sF dewpoints into the region. With Pwats also rising above 2.25 inches and CAPE in excess of 1,000 J/kg along with tall skinnier CAPE profiles. Storms that develop will be very efficient rain producers. With the strongest forcing for accent located over the region numerous storms will be able to develop and train over the same areas leading to a significant flash flooding threat given all of the recent rain.

Numerous bands of showers and thunderstorms will train over the region from late morning through this evening before we see a more uniform area of heavy rain over the region through the night tonight as the surface low strengthens and moves to the east over the northern Chesapeake. There will be a risk for a few tornadoes through the afternoon with embedded supercells given decent low-level shear near the surface low (effective SRH of up to 300 m2/s2) and decent enough 0-3km CAPE (>100 J/kg).

When all is set and done by tomorrow morning most areas would have received an additional 3 to 6 inches of rain with localized areas that get under training bands in excess of 10 inches leading to major flooding. Always remember to turn around don’t drown. It’s not worth it!

After the Rockies series, the Boston/Cleveland/Toronto stretch will determine the season. 6-4 through that at worse I think is what the O's can afford.

Finally back to .500 and 1/2 game out.  I know it is a very long shot of the Orioles making the playoffs, but they are fun to watch right now.  September is a burtal schedule.

I’ve seen a ton of stories lately from both men and women justifying walking out on marriage for no good reason (I am not engaging in the gender war crap, there are good men and women and bad men and women.  Gender doesn’t make someone automatically anything imo).  Men and women saying you don’t need abuse or infidelity to leave someone and it’s fine to leave a good person who treats you well if you just aren’t happy. 
 

Now I fully admit I’m weird and no one to comment on what’s normal but…WTF!   Why get married if that’s your attitude?  Do the vows mean nothing?  If your partner is good to you and you made a commitment….shouldnt you work on yourself?  Ask why you’re not happy despite someone who loves you who you married indicating hopefully you love them too?  Do people think it’s up to someone else to make them happy?  Or as a society have we decided marriage means nothing now and it’s just a cute ceremony we do?  I don’t get it. If you just walk the first time you’re not feeling it why get married at all?

looks like the Nats from earlier in the season are back at least for the past few games.  Won't make the playoffs - but if the Lerners don't give Toboni and Butera the $$ and freedom to actually get an MLB bullpen over the offseason and maybe sign some other talent, then it's torches and pitchforks time.

I think he could still be serviceable, but his days of every down work are probably vanquished. In the right scheme, he could certainly provide value. Considering Flores propensity to blitz, that should be favorable.

Been a mostly fun year, minus the absolute heartbreaks in the 8th-9th innings.  Is there a world where the keep Abrams, Wood, and even Lyle at this point long term?  Minors have some decent pitching options in the next few years and Cavalli has proven to be a bonified 1/1A at the head of the rotation.  Would be tough as a fan to continue to keep watching good young talent just keep walking out the door.

Thanks.  Yeah, the Vikes have Van Ginkle and Dallas Turner (looking good for a 3rd year leap) set as the starters, but the depth at that position was dicey.

Orioles still struggling to score more than a couple runs, even against the worst team in baseball. If they lose this game that Cowser robbery the other night doesn't mean shit. Not sure how they are going to win important series against the better competition going forward.
