0.66" here*

*Asked the wife to check/empty the gauge for me when she went out for the chicks. When I later asked her for the total she went blank. And 0.66" was the best she could guess.

Unfortunately it's double any nearby station.

I've seen that happen, legitimately, but looking at the radar overnight, it doesn't really support that.

Only got 0.20". About what I expected.

Correct it's not the amount of acorns. It's the size of the squirrels that dictate snowfall.

It is not if an acorn falls but if someone mistakes the sound of it hitting a car with a gunshot

My windshield got shelled today. Already have a crack and need to replace it. Maybe I'll wait until the end of the month.

Got popped by a couple bigguns today while out an about and thought we might've gotten ourselves into a similar situation.

Fortunately, it was apparently just some cat-sized squirrels taking aim at us from on high with the plethora of gargantuan acorns.

Heating oil prices up 7.35% just today. Supposed to jump more tomorrow. Going to be some low thermostats this winter.

I had to replace my oil tank last year.. the $5000 bucks would have been better spent on converting to propane. That has remained relatively stable.  I burn wood and pellets, normally keep the thermostats at 64 as a fall back.  Fortunately I only burn 400 to 500 gallons a year.  Too add salt to wounds, I also drive diesel truck.  Just saw 6.10 for the first time in a while.

Actually oil prices are down three and a half percent for the day. I guess they figured they gouged enough for this week.

That must be crude, refined products won't be coming down in price any time soon.  Refined petroleum is only going to increase in price because the real problem isn't availability of crude, it's the lack of adequate global operating refining capacity.  Right now US refineries are running at maximum capacity; they can't produce any more refined product than what they are producing right now.  Additionally, refining capacity around the globe has been diminished by various geopolitical factors including Russia's invasion of Ukraine and dumb-dumb's closing of the straight of Hormuz, which has reduced the availability of refined products across the globe which is driving up prices.  The refined product produced here in the US is now also being sold onto the world market at high prices, driving our prices up.

a rudimentary understanding of capitalism, supply and demand, and global refining capacity quickly demonstrates that refined products will become more and more expense as we get closer to the end of the year.

I'm keeping all 5 of my car fuel tanks full, and if I had a big oil tank or propane tank, I'd be filling that now, too.
