Wow. Today looks like a fun weather day. There's a wall of water headed towards the area already this morning. There's not much lightning with it. Might be a fun batch to do a morning rain hike.

I just noticed it starting to look like trash on radar lol. I'm hoping the convection stuff developing in front of it will become a fresh batch. Of course that won’t effect the deadlands where you live lol

It just doesn’t want to be dry in Frederick this summer. Quick hitting vitamin downpour in progress. Looks like a break than more stuff later.

I am postponing overseeding till the middle of Sept.,  maybe by then we get some Nino connection.  I work and therefore can not manually water the lawn.   

I hope we dont repeat last Sept., and October when soil moisture hit very low levels of near 17 %

Typically Fall. Probably not until October.

.20 so far today.  2.0 for the month so far.  Much better than last year in SW Frederick area.

Next little batch dropped 0.06 up to 0.19 so far

2nd batch actually produced enough rates to wet the ground.  .25" on the day.

Periodic showers all day so far with neighborhood gauges showing 0.5”+.

Got the Stephen’s city treatment so far today. Not even 0.1”, way less than most mesonet stations in central MD

Slightly wet ground. Is this it? Yesterday's forecast was for a half inch today and up to an inch tonight. LOL

This has been a recurring trend with the forecasts here for months.

Seems pretty typical around here. Storms maybe later seem progressive. Not expecting much.

Still a quarter to half inch in the forecast for tonight. Only meso model that has anything close to that is the latest run of the HRRR, which will be completely different in an hour.

Can't wait for the atmospheric response to the Nino to fully kick in. Actually looking foreword to a dreary Fall with lots of rain lol.

In my part of Columbia at 3 PM there is a break in the action/overcast. There are about 0.11 inches of rain. Hopefully more to come.

Big Gulf lows moving up the coast with long-duration soaking rains.  It will be dreary, but we need it!

Nothing is guaranteed just because we are having a Nino.

October, November and December of  1965 experienced a strong Nino at +2.0

A severe drought was in progress. Dulles received a total of .46" during November of 65.

December of 65 was worse at only .42"!

The heavy snows of late Jan. 66 finally brought moisture.
