Not sure why there’s such a push to have the public kill them. It’s like gypsies, japanese beetles, EAB, etc…once they arrive they’re there for good.

A lot of reports from further south are that they go wild for a few years and then the numbers drop off quite a bit. Not sure if that’s a case of other insects and animals learning that they’re tasty or if there’s some other factor at play.

The continents will all be back together again in 250M years so we may as well mix all of the insects around the planet together now. 

I don't go out of my way to kill them but I just probably mowed over dozens of them cutting the grass. I have battled many invasive insects but the shear number of these fuckers is astounding.

I have also been reading they are drastically changing the taste of the local honey.

They must have just crossed over the Quinnipiac River/New Haven. Only saw them out your way in Milford, Orange, West Haven prior to seeing them here this summer.

That spring and summer climate is generally brutal . Ocean temps prohibit swimming and now it’s a huge drought area

I'd say they've been here 3 years.   It's not quite as bad this year as the first real year but I don't bother killing them anymore.   The bats eat them which is maybe why the #'s seem a bit less this year.

I’ve only seen a handful here over the last few years, nothing outrageous. They do have a preference for certain species.

They don't fly far but they can jump fast if you try to stomp them.

You are right on Spring at Pit---it sucks.  Everything else is good though.

Pit 2 is great for summer and fall.  Winter and spring fail.

It’s typically chilly with temps in the 60’s / 70’s. Water temps in 50’s .Why would anyone want or like that in the summer at the beach ?

Invest 97L -- if this system makes TS-strength, it is likely to be among the smallest TCs on record.  Compare the WV image of 97L currently to an image of Macro from Oct 2008 in the Bay of Campeche, which is the smallest TC on record (both attached).

The small size is a product of how unfavorable conditions are in the Atlantic overall for TCs.  Yes, in the Gulf the shear is low (unlike the MDR) but mid-level dry air is an issue.  Nary any other convection in anywhere near 97L!

@CoastalWx will say, "still does not break the BORING pattern!!!"    But wx always has something KEWL going on if you do not confine yourself w/in 5 mi of Weymouth!
