This is crazy. I didn't see anything about this until someone in the NE Ohio thread mentioned.

Unexpectedly cool this morning with 46 at my place, 41 at Eagle Mine, and a 39 degree reading up in Keweenaw  County. A nice day 77/55 currently. Could use some rain.

If you looked at radar, you can see how the storms were retrograding in from Lake erie and moving at a snails pace. A much smaller and more short-lived one hit me yesterday and dropped 1.54" in 2 hours.

The MRMS says that 9.3" was in eastern Lucas County with a max of 9-15" on Kelley's Island. There were slow-moving storms during the nighttime and morning, stuck in the middle of the upper level low. Yesterday, showers and thunderstorms were slowly moving counterclockwise around Toledo but nothing much happened until closer to 10:00 near Kelley's Island and midnight near Toledo. The 00z HRRR had kind of a good forecast, but obviously there are huge surprising floods when you get over 4" quickly.

Perfect summer day here, 29C/84F with a touch of humidity and mainly blue skies but started clouding up at an odd time: 4pm. Typically its 10am.

The next 4 days will also be similar with consistent highs and lows. This is the regime I wish was around always.

Ended up with a 3-day rainfall total around 7" at home, with flooding around town.

Family party on the 4th at my dads was fun, with the yard partially underwater, due to the nearly stationary t'storms during the afternoon.

ORD received 1.71" of precip on July 3rd, which broke the record precip total for the date of 1.57" (1871).
