  1. Can’t beat cool crisp 50s at night followed by a nice dry 80ish during the day. locally we hit 48 earlier and then got up to 84 today. Lovely range.
  2. June 1922 is the driest June in the books for Chicago with .12 “ I hope we don’t break that record.
  3. Perfect snoozing wx at night. Crack open all the windows without worry
  4. Amazing stretch on deck for a lot of us with comfy dew points in the 50s.
  5. I’ll gladly take a healthy and very normal spring frost/freeze in exchange for the local ecosystem/ wildlife benefits. (Invasive species to be exact that can’t handle the cold) I know late spring cold sucks after such a nice stretch of wx but it’s very healthy for the local ecosystem to get spring freezes and frosts.
  6. Extended looks primo with a range of 40-70ish on deck.
  7. It will be very nice to kill off some of the skeeters that might have gotten going though. Late spring frost and freezes play a vital role in making sure disease carrying insects don’t get too bad in the summer up here in the Midwest/north. Sure some crops may suffer but overall late spring frosts/freezes serve a purpose and are a net + for the local ecosystem. Insects/diseases and Invasive species in particular are no laughing matter in the southern states, all creeping north with time…. As person who spends a great deal of time in forest preserves, I am personally very thankful for this frost/freeze.
  8. I’m Just hoping the hose doesn’t shut off for June/July/August. A dessert like summer could wipe out all of the drought progress this spring.
  9. 60 degree dew points are back. It is definitely noticeably sticky out there today.
  10. Going to go outside to enjoy the couple of hours above 50 here before the quick temp crash. It’s going to be a wild ride
  11. 12Z 3KM NAM (The same model your Fav HRRR is birthed from)
  12. Some nice flake size. Nice little burst
  13. The latest subzero temp on record at Chicago is -1, 3/22/1888 and only 17 total dips below zero on record for the month of March.
  14. After last year’s dog turd of a winter, I am satisfied with this years experience. Hell of an improvement from last year if we’re keeping it real. we had 17” or whatever it was at ORD last season
  15. You live by climo and die by climo, beggars can’t be choosers. For some perspective we have 50+ seasons on record of below 30” at ORD. https://www.weather.gov/lot/Chicago_seasonal_snow
  16. Clunker months are going to happen even in an A/B level winter. IMO It’s all about the seasonal snow fall total at the end. Solid B for me in the NW burbs with the memorable NOV. Here’s a hypothetical, what if we received the ~30” at ORD in 3 even 10” shots or 4-7.5” storms? Would that change any one’s grades?
  17. The human body’s thermoregulation never ceases to amaze me! That same 28 and sunny in November would feel downright cold. After a couple of cold winter months though it now feels lovely!
  18. Sun angle concerns right around the corner as well! Have about a 3 week window here to cash in on a big-dog and then it’s on to spring.
  19. Going to see some classic sublimation of the local snowpack the next few days. sunny, dry, and enough wind
  20. Definitely one of the more potent LE events on this side of the Lake in recent memory. Jan 22 2005 was fun too. https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/current/mcview.phtml?prod=lotrad&java=script&mode=archive&frames=13&interval=5&year=2005&month=1&day=22&hour=12&minute=25
  21. Might jump above freezing for a little bit tomorrow, going to feel nice
  22. I forgot how insane 2019 was around here. Daytime readings double-digits <0 Plus 20mph winds https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/usa/chicago/historic?month=1&year=2019
