  1. Nice stormy and humid day to close out August! Pesky mosquitoes are having the time of their life rn.
  2. Labor Day pm a lock to be hot and humid. Summer going out with a bang!! Looking forward to the juiced up storm opportunities too!
  3. Nice share the wealth lunar eclipse. Nearly everyone will be able to see it as long as clouds stay away
  4. You’ve got some 70s in your point forecast all of next week. Could be a decent streak of 70s to close out the summer season for you guys in the UP. Maybe even one last 80. The Annual SEP Torch spares no one! even monster Nino falls stand no chance against the greater overall pattern shift towards warm and mild falls.
  5. Love the ebbs and flows of the 4 distinct seasons locally. only other places I can think of with enough variety would be Maine or upstate NY.
  6. Looks like an opportunity for a 90 coming up in the next week locally. Potentially this Sunday and again sometime next week! not done with the heat/humidity just yet… SEP has locally been a lock for +Departures in recent times.
  7. Nice crisp morning in the 50s here today ARR got down to 51 Rochelle 48!
  8. A lil boredom never hurt. Personally I like these lulls. Makes you appreciate the action even more when it arrives. imo wall-wall action would get boring quick. Balance …. Just for perspective Chicago’s record for consecutive days with measurable precipitation is 11 days. 1880, 1949
  9. Have lost 1.5 hrs of sunlight since the solstice. A few more weeks till the equinox, can’t wait !
  10. The desertification of the UK. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/aug/17/uk-government-emergency-drought-plans-transparency
  11. As we head into the peak of the hurricane season over the next month or two, we might get a window of some more humidity/heat as potential remnants work their way inland.
  12. A potential wild-card for 90s is any tropical activity/remnants as we head into SEP and the peak hurricane season. If we see a MAJ Cat 2-3-4 storm crawl it’s way inland that could shoot temps up out in front of it with some nice ridging.
  13. Even in a relatively cooler stretch overall down the road the troughs will relax at some point and give way to ridging. We’re probably not done with 90s down here. Also Lake Michigan is super warm down here right now compared to you guys up north on Superior, 70+ 74 in some areas.
  14. I think we get tag at least 2 more 90s. Potential windows the Last few days of the month and again Labor Day week after this slightly BN period relaxes. Also can’t completely discount Late SEP/early OCT. There are 6 total OCT 90s in the record books for CHI, the hottest being 10/6/63 a balmy 94 degrees. Kinda neat going back in time and finding 90s in the record book all the way from APR10th-OCT6th in the Chicagoland area. Obviously odds are lower some months, but can never completely discount a 90 during those 7 months. https://www.weather.gov/lot/90_degrees
  15. Not mad at all by the miss south, we’ve been blessed locally. Plus we still get to see the cool looking clouds out in the distance even with no rain.
  16. On the northern end up here but just lost power…
  17. Nice pea sized hail coming down. Decent down pour, some localized flooding. Nice ponding in the parking lots.
  18. Wouldn’t be surprised if we get a curveball cold month or two this winter. Ofc odds are def leaning towards mild and wet overall ala classic Nino and even just considering our recent trash winter climo regardless of ENSO conditions. However you can never discount a rando month or two where conditions set up perfectly on our side of the globe for cold/snow while Siberia and the oppo side torches.
  19. Not really seeing any 80 degree dews on any model runs boss. Maybe over by you near the cornfields and points west. GLOV looks to avoid anything extreme. Will def hit low 70s but we had that this week already, nothing noteworthy.
  20. My favorite month of Summer! Going to try to take advantage and enjoy this month! Monday/Tuesday look top shelf and sunny this week before a little bit more rain!
  21. I love me a good ole cutoff low. Flash drought fail
  22. No 90 most likely today. Good trade off tho with the explosive storms
  23. Some very small hail falling here in the NW burbs! Been a minute since I’ve seen the stuff
