Interesting to see SE jersey that dry-they are usually a hotbed of T-storm activity in the summer

We've had some intense storms here in Ocean county recently. In some places the soil is almost pure sand so it drains and dries quickly. Despite the rains, I still have drip irrigation on in the garden because of this.

Just got nailed with a severe thunderstorm here in Northwest Philadelphia. It was raining so hard it looked like it was snowing. There was a period of pea to marble sized hail as well. Flash flood warning also hoisted. Sky seems to be getting lighter now…

Yes, that's true.

2009 was one of my favorite summers back in Long Beach. Comfortable temperatures and smaller beach crowds.

Really the last time that we had a cool June and July by long term climate standards.

The 19th coolest June and July average temperature at Newark with records now back to the 1840s was very impressive. The actual coolest average temperature since 1940.

I also enjoyed the relatively cool summer. The winter that followed proved to be fantastic.

Warning for northern Middlesex

Pretty stationary

That cell popped up almost on top of me, but I was on the eastern edge of it. So not too bad here -- mostly moderate rain with some low end heavy rain for a little while. I saw a few lightning strikes a few miles to my east. 0.20" here so far. Still some moderate rain coming down but it's almost over. Looking forward to see a lot more rain tomorrow.
