Definitely not complaining. I was in Manassas, VA Friday and it was 60 degrees there, so hot in the sun. Glad this could happen right after!

There’s pros and cons to living in arguably the worst place for snow in the mid-Atlantic. Snow is cool, but not seeing huge mounds of it into April is ok with me, and bike lanes/basketball courts will stay open. As far as precip is concerned…we did pretty well here (and Thursday, too)…which is more important in the grand scheme of drought things. The biggest issue is that it wasn’t cold enough for the daytime waa stuff. I’ve moved on…there’s better things to kvetch about lol.

I guess IAD never got into the heavier bands that were over central Fairfax, and they are at the bottom of a bowl. Oh well. It will all be gone by 4PM.

Just now finishing up a 3 mile post storm jebwalk. No complaints about this storm. Was beautiful and have all the trees a nice coating.

Surrounding spotter reports and my eyeballs say at least 2 feet. Drifting makes it impossible to tell, as wind gusts hit over 60mph last night. Still snowing nicely too.

30+ reports in Rhode Island and eastern Long Island. Someone in RI will hit 40”. Reports of 5-6” per hour under that band

One day it will be our areas turn again. Hopefully. Incredible storm. It’s just not as sweet when it’s not IMBY and I can’t share it with my fellow degenerates

I am not sure what would have just caused this, but about half an hour ago it got super windy here. The gusts were so strong it just took a large tree out in my front yard. Now it is back to calmer winds.  But it was definitely crazy there for a few minutes.

Does seem low but I think the best of the band was just to the east of IAD. I am <10 miles northeast of IAD and got twice as much (3.5" on the ground this morning, which likely means ~4.5" pre-compaction . . . I didn't measure during the storm).  @bnchogot similar numbers a bit east of me.

In Arlington, I think elevation had some impact.

Far western Arlington (about 300-350 elevation): 3.5

West of Lake Barcroft (about 250-300 elevation): 2.5

Me (about 100 feet up from DCA): about an inch and a half

DCA (just about on the river): 1.0

((Of course, when I saw the predicted temperatures, I figured DCA didn't have much of a chance. I'm a bit surprised it managed to get an inch despite not hitting 32 for an extended period until shortly before 5 am.))

Yeah seems low to me. I was on the edge of that band or just outside of it and still managed to claw my way to 2.5”. Other Ashburn reports on LWX PNS confirm this as well with 2.8” readings. I would have thought IAD would be at 3” or even more. Maybe they just stuck a ruler on the pavement after all that compaction and melting.

Was thinking the same thing.  We have right at 4" - and it's compacted/heavy paste.   IAD was under the band for several hours.  We lucked out here ivo Vienna.

It will be. Can’t say when, but I have no doubt. The coastal storm tracks seem to be making a comeback. It’s like darts… throw enough of them and eventually you get a bullseye. And with more moisture/vapor in the air, oh man

with the warming climate, if we get that bullseye, we are going to get absolutely demolished. All three airports are going to have their snowfall records broken.

Only upside of the storm was driving around Potomac/Rockville aesthetically it looked like we had a real snowstorm
