Typhoon Tip
9 minutes ago, FXWX said: The onset rates were tremendous! The winds will high-end, plus the general public was out in mass, and there was a sense by the public that it was being over-blown. The onset of heavy heavy snow was like a curtain, making travel almost impossible shortly after onset! There is a couple of great books out there that document the event, plus the Kocin book! WBZ produced a great documentary about it; probably still out there some where. Yeah... look, as recently as 2008, there was something like 6-10" of busting positive snow some random Tuesday afternoon up here over interior/eastern zones, and what transpire on the grid-locked roads, serious caused a 5 hour commute for some people trying to drive 15 miles. It was a dense burst of 3"/hr rates, into one of those micro-transient cultural vibes of obliviousness like you described was going on with 1978's morning hours of laissez-faire coffee and crumpet business as usual attitudes. This shit happens. You dump a foot in 2.5 hours onto an incredulous, (head) dense demographic ... you're fucked. 1978 did 20-30 in 18 hours really 1

CT Rain
Some hellacious winds on this thing. Looks like a well mixed boundary layer up to 900ish on a few of the models with 60-65 knots up there at least. Could be an unusually windy one. 7
