GregRups21
I feel like it’s just a snow dome over my place in Ridgewood. Everyone within a couple miles is blizzard snow and we’ve had on and off light snow all morning .Feel like you’re only 2-4 miles too far west of the band that has been sitting here . NorthShoreWx
Storm total here 17.1" @IrishRob17, interesting measurements: 9.0" of snow through midnight melted down to 0.79" (11.4:1). I cleared the boards at midnight (my standard is once per 24 hours at midnight) 8.1" new measured on the boards a short while ago. Sample from that hasn't melted yet. I had 4.5" at the stake before the snow started and 18" now. The 4.5 inches is rock hard and did not compact, so you know the front 9 sure did. It is possible the snow could have been a little higher on the stake earlier, maybe 19". Alas, if we do manage to get another inch or two, it probably won't increase the snow depth. 2

eduggs
Running a net negative on snow depth out this way since I measured at 7:30am. Temperature approaching freezing now with lots of dripping. The middle of the storm was great but the ending third has been disappointing. The duration of accumulating snow here was about 12-14 hours. It was looking closer to 20 hours plus back this way a day or two ago. We'll get ours one of these years.
Ridgewoodweather125
Feel like you’re only 2-4 miles too far west of the band that has been sitting here .Yep the last 3-4 hours everything had either been a few miles to my west or a few miles to my east. Sucks to just be in a snow hole all morning while I could literally take a long walk to places getting dumped on .

eduggs
Looks like Caldwell, NJ reported only 1 hour of heavy snow. Sussex only reported 2 hours of moderate snow. Rates just never really got going in N&W NJ. The bands never quite rotated far enough around. A far cry from the NWS forecast discussion language from 36 hours ago. The melt is going to be a lot faster than people expect. This is not late Jan with arctic temps. Even temps near freezing under sunny skies will do a lot of damage with late Feb to early March sun.

One of the more ironic records, given that Cape May probably has the lowest average snowfall in NJ. Of course, that Feb. 1899 blast also cooled Tallahassee to minus 2.

eduggs
Newark has reported 12 hours of heavy snow and counting. I'm probably 20 miles from the airport and have had 0 hours of heavy snow. I hate this storm lol. Seriously anybody getting the goods today needs to get outside and walk around in it. I'm older than most of you and I've never personally experienced a 20" snow event... always in the wrong place at the wrong time. These events are not common.
